Re: Your thoughts on this load test

I think I need a picture...lol

If I'm reading that right, I'd work +/- 76 and see what happens.

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

will see what i come up with this weekend

and my only option on seating depth is to jump em' more since i am mag length already

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

Unless it was real windy, the 76 gr load looks best, just start improving your "bag work".

I got a lot of "tests" that looked like that until I started remembering to align the bag properly with each shot. Get it right and your H should match your V.

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

im so confused right now

besides the es of the 76 being better than the 76.8

i dont understand why i would want my H to be closer to the V on the 76 load

the 76.8 has .1 V vs the .6 of the 76

and yes it was windy

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

Windy days don't usually work very well for load tests. Sure a magnum round shouldn't move too much at 100 yards, but still you end up wondering if the wind was a factor when the tests aren't conclusive.

I usually go for the lowest vertical dispersion and work with that load. The range I shoot at most of the time has winds that change direction every 30 seconds or so. Never from the same direction so there'll always be more Horizontal dispersion on my targets. When I go to another range that has more steady winds, at least consistent speed/direction, the loads that excell were the ones that had least vertical. I also verify that the consistency is speed related, not a result of head/tail winds by running 25 or so of my selected rounds over a chronograph.

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

Did another small test at 100 yds... i know i need to get better as a shooter

5 shots per group

the 76.1 SD 7 and ES 20
the 76.8 SD 9 and ES 24

this time i shot from prone and rather quickly.. i didnt take much time between shots as i was in a hurry

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

Well, I think you were just masturbating the firearm on that trip. Was fun, but you didn't really accomplish anything.

It is essential to take your time and shoot your very best during load development. Otherwise the results don't tell you anything.

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

I've had those days too, either wind, shoot like crap, or whatever. Look at the results and can't draw any conclusions from them.

I'd load up some more with the charges and try again. Maybe a couple of shot groups even.

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

try testing further , inside 200-300 you get a paralax issue that can only really be corrected by shooting further.

Re: Your thoughts on this load test

my max range i atm is 200

i will take my time next time and re do a few loads might even let someone else take her for a run

i might be sending my bolt back to surgeon because its having major ejection issues...

thanks for all the input
