if this is the wrong area i apologize, I have a nice rifle built by German Salazas friend Norm, its a 308 krieger bbl on a rem 700. Ive been using a monarch 4-16x42 mildot, i want something a lil more specific to the task at hand. being im poor ive been trying to trade of my shr970, glock 20, or ruger p-95. that aside in my "trade budget" what do you think my options are? who has the better glass in the $600-$800 range, as an extra kicker if at all possible id like this scope to double for other shoots where ill want the ranging capabilities of a mil dot or other ranging reticle. i have searched forums everywhere and hear tons of contradicting info, i trust you guys and need your input please!. thank you for your time and any advice.

Re: need some advice from the pros

I have been running a Fixed 35X Leupold for a couple of years. Its works great. Cost is 995.00 full retail and you can find used for around 600.00. My second scope is a Leupold 8-25x50 Long Range and they go for around 1000.00 also. No need to buy MK4 version as the Long Range is all you need. Used around 750-800

Weaver makes a fixed 36x which a few guys use for around 400.00

Sightron makes some real good varibles for around a 1000.00 in the 8-32 or 10-50 powers. Never used any personally but several I know and trust say they are good to go.

Re: need some advice from the pros

In your price range I would go with the sightron. Either the 8x32x56 or the 10x50x60. You may find a good deal on a used one if you look on 6mmbr.

Re: need some advice from the pros

Nightforce all the way. you may have to swallow the $2200 sticker price, but they are far better than any custom nikon or leupold on the market.

Re: need some advice from the pros

If you are shooting F class Nightforce is overbuilt and overweight.

I have an 8-32BR on my TR rifle now, but my next scope will probably be a 10-50 Sightron. The only thing I'm not sure of is switching reticles, I use an NP-2DD now. I need to look through a Sightron 10-50 with a CHD and see how it feels to me.

The other option is I hit the lottery and get a March, but that's not likely.

The biggest problem with Nightforce scopes in F class, particularly F-TR is the weight. They weigh more than any other scope you can mount and that takes away ounces you could use on barrel
