Hey All,
What do you think of the Specter Gear tactical thigh holsters? I run a Kimber Custom 2 and eventually want to get a Kimber TLE/RL 2, the light railed version of mine. They say on their website that their universal tactical thigh holster will hold pistols equipped with lights. Will they hold a 1911 without a light securely. Or should I just get the standard one for the 1911 and then get something else when I get the RL2? I like the Safariland level 3 thigh holster but they are too expensive especially since there are two different ones for railed and not railed guns and it doesnt look like the one for a railed/lighted 1911 will work for the non railed 1911. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

Re: Specter Gear Tactical thigh holsters

You wanted opinions? Well, here you go... I think thigh holster are overrated... I cannot imagine a situation where I would EVER wear one again (I mean come on, we've all made that mistake at least once). I've never used a drop & offset holster

or a thigh rig ran up real high just using the lower strap... It seems like a step in the right direction, but I'll just stick with a Blade Tech on my belt thanks.

I never let dollars dictate the gear that I buy. If you have a job where you actually use the gear, life is already hard enough, I see no point in making it harder on yourself by settling on sub-par gear. And if you're in the other group where you don't actually use the gear, well then, I guess it doesn't really matter what you get

Good luck.

Re: Specter Gear Tactical thigh holsters

I use a specter gear thigh holster to hold a Glock 22 with a tlr1. After adjusting it would hold a 1911 secure.
It will flop around more than a nice form fit setup like safariland if you're having to run, but it's just fine for hiking and walking.
The only time its used is in cooler weather when a jacket is required, especially a heavy coat.
