Hunting & Fishing Best fanny/lumbar/waist pack for hunting?

Looking to streamline what I carry into the woods. This will be used for hunting here in Georgia. I want a fanny pack more so that it isn't as hot on the body as a backpack. It is hot here for at least 1/2 of deer season.

Right now I am using a Badlands Pursuit backpack. I like it a lot. No complaints, but I want to add another pack.

I have considered getting the Badlands Ambush, but also saw the Alps Outdoorz Little Bear pack.

I don't know if I need shoulder straps or not. Would like the ability to strap a shirt or jacket to the pack if necessary.

I usually carry: water bottle, compass, gps, latex gloves, TP, pruning shears, saw, knife, light, whistle, batteries, predator call, grunt call, and thermocell in my pack. Sounds like a lot, but it really isn't that much.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Check out Blacks Creek.

Has anyone tried Cabela's All Day Transporter Fanny pack?

Not a waist pack but I find the Kit Bag by Hill People Gear to be the absolute ticket.

What about a MURSE? Even one of them tacticool ones by Maxi?

Re: Best fanny/lumbar/waist pack for hunting?

Try that one that Maxpedtion shows on the add they display on here all the time.

I got one for the missus as a handy tool belt for here on the farm. Phuck me, she's got a pair of fencing pliers, two bypass shears, four pounds of fencing staples, needle nose pliers, fencing ties (the galvi ones, not the aluminum junk) and a 3" taurus 44 mag in it. Bastard thing weighs about 15 lbs and it' over 18 mos old now and no tears or real damage yet.

I love that thing like nothing else (the old lady, not the damn bag)but she's rough as hell on things. So if it's made it this long, it's friggin bullet proof.

if you go there, get you a six pakc of the 1" snap hook doofers, they're handy as hell for hanging stuff on the out side too.

good luck with your choice,
Breeze

All right Maelek, let's see that thing in some urbanoflauge thongs or something! That truly is a fanny pack!

I grew up in Pineville, so I know your stomping grounds.

I bought a Badlands fanny pack for the same reasons the OP mentioned. When loaded the damn thing would tilt back and try to slide down. Very uncomfortable..
Should have gotten one with the suspenders. Very few people are built correctly to carry a weight-bearing fanny pack. Just my 2 cents.

I have the monster fanny with the straps from badlands. I have used it for whitetail and elk. It has been a great pack for day hunting/treestand work. It has enough room for the list you have and then some. I consider it the perfect in between choice.

Very important point and the info I was looking for. Now I know I need one with shoulder straps. Badlands Monster or Cabelas All Day Transporter. Or something else in that price range.

I have the badlands Monster, as Rthur said above great pack for day hunting and treestand work.

Lumbar packs start to suck really quick. Most people dont have the discipline to just put a few necessities in them. They work great for a water bottle and what normally fits in your cargo pockets.
