Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

Ok how about this. You use the knife to cut your balls off with it now and save her the trouble.Follow this with a very liberal application of vagisil and everything will be fine as you then marry her and live a very long happy ball less life in wedded bliss........

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

I'd be pissed if someone took my tools away from where they are supposed to be.

-Buy your own shit.
-Respect your ladies woman space if you want your space respected.
-Don't break your word.

She isn't pissed about the knife. She's pissed because you broke your word.

Agreed, pics or it didn't happen!

just goes down hill from here man. (just responding to original op post)

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

+1 no pics no sound ruling!

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

As a newly married man, perhaps I can lend a voice of reason. Look for why she's really pissed. Is it a space issue; do you own your man cave and she the kitchen? I'd try to appease her; some fights aren't worth it. But I'd also think about previous fights. My wife would rip my balls off if I stole her dental drills to do Dremel work; she's using them for their intended purpose. Vice Versa, if she appropriates hand tools to smack a pair of dentures around that I was using, I'd be irked too. A good knife should stay just there; keep a box-cutter in the man cave.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

You screwed up. You said you wouldn't do it and you did. You broke your word.

Don't do it any more, kiss her ass. And don't do it any more. Ever.

Beyond that, as is mentioned above, what you're doing you shouldn't do even if you're single. There are tools for what you're doing. Get one. Good knives and Stainless food bowls aren't for garage shit dude.

This is typical behavior of someone that is purposefully trying to test you, so that you leave her, and she doesn't have to be the bad person.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

Its simple,

Its a damn knife, tell her to shut up, that their are kids starving in Africa. Also if she was doing her job, she would have notice you in the kitchen.

Also I am saying this for real. There is a thing called reality theraphy. I will shorten it down. It Basically states that everyone makes choices in every matter. So she is choosing to be angry. If she has chosen to be angry in handling a situation, get rid of her. Your life will not be fun.

amen brother. I'm a Wusthof guy myself after collecting my set while in culinary school and in the business. My good kitchen knives belong only in the kitchen.

If it was a $20 knife she flipped over... ditch her now.
if you screwed up and botched her $100+ chef knife or $40+ paring knife... as noted many times how you would feel if she was using your new Leopold to swat flies. THe shoe sucks on the other foot most of the time.

you did screw the pooch on this one, but she definatly over reacted - but then again so did you. Sleeping on the floor was stupid... i hope you have a sore back to teach you that lesson.

if what she's done would be considered "typical" for her.. espeically the punishment part this is VERY spot on.

been there, done that, burned that tshirt - just glad i did well before she even got promoted to fiance!

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

I'd be pissed. How would you like it if she used one of your Pistols to hammer a nail into the wall? I have a thing for knives. Mine are all like razors and I like to keep them that way. Yeah, I'd be pissed too if you finally agreed to stop, she bought new to start over and then you go right back at it. Go buy the right tools for the job and leave hers alone.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

Haven't seen where the OP explained WTF, exactly, he was doing to a firearm that required A) a nice kitchen knife, and B) putting a nick in it.
Jeebus man, don't you own a screwdriver? Regardless of how the woman thing turns out, go spend money on good tools. I said good tools, not the $4 bargain bin specials.
My .02 on the woman thing: Unless you are a repeating fuckup, which it sounds like, you two need some couples therapy before/if you marry. She has a right to be pissed, but is overreacting. Unless, as stated, you are a repeating fuckup and the knife was the last straw. You've proven that your promises don't mean shit.
Possibly she should leave you.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

Aw mate - fair dinkum !

If things are like that now - imagine 10 years down the track what it will be like. You both need to be able to overlook such shit & move on remembering that it is just small stuff really.

My wife has not cleaned her car in months - well the interior is diabolical & I just have to let it go. We have a laugh about it.

Our dog ( my dog ) threw up under her desk last night - I cleaned it up, we had a laugh about it. She said the dog didn't like her & I said that the dog did because he went to her when he was feeling ill. We had a laugh about it.

Last time my safe was opened she counted 6 AI rifles. When I said it was only 4 & that the 2 Rem 700's in AICS chassis didn't count. We had a laugh about it.

Seriously - you both have to be able to let things go & get on with life, thats when the good stuff arrives. My wife & I have been through so much heavy crap in our lives that we realise what counts is each other.

May you be blessed & find the same.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

Most of the guys that I know, that talk about their marriage, discuss their own coping mechanisms to live with the opposite but "crazy" sex. That would also take me into consideration as one of the guys. Marriage is a road where there is a left margin and a right margin with a dotted line in the road. You figure out how wide you can make the road based on events that occur that causes conflict in the relationship. Those left and right white solid lines are conflict boundaries that when you cross one you know the fight is on. The dotted line gets moved from time-to-time based on mood swings but it is there to let you know when you are crossing into the dangerous side of the lane.

Marriage is also a series of battles to determine dominance in the relationship. Where there are two people together there will be someone that is trying to obtain dominance.

Only you can determine if you can actually live with this woman for a long period of time. But, I can tell you that what you see now is not going to change. If you don't like it now it will only get worse. The biggest reason for failed marriages is someone who thinks they can change the other person if they apply themselves hard enough - IT DOESN'T WORK AND CREATES HARD FEELINGS!

I am passing my 27th year of marriage so I can only speak my relationship but marriage is a war - arm yourself accordingly!

Good Luck

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

My old boss gave me 2 options when I told him I was getting married.

1. I could call it off and he'd take me and a few friends on an all expenses paid cruise down to baja mexico...few weeks of beer women fishing total partying etc. AND he'd give me $500 bonus on my next check.

or

2. He would be one of my groomsmen as I requested and he'd give us $500 as a wedding present.

I told him I was sure. He retorted that every employee he had ever made this offer to turned him down and every employee came back to him and said "I should have taken the cruise"

and he was right! lol Women are EVIL! They suck you in...punch out a couple of kids and then they've got ya!!!! Or if they don't punch out the kids they take ALL yer money!!! They truly are vicious life sucking b*tches from which there is no return!

Bottom line - If your at all unhappy now...yer totally fcked later!

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

I understand her being pissed for using her stuff the way it wasn't intended

But! All this over a knife is crazy!ninhave been married 22 years and would laugh my ass off if my wife acted like that over something so stupid

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

This isn't something I came up with, but was told to me a long time ago, and I keep it in mind:

"There are three techniques for arguing with a woman, none of them work."

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

Unless the knife in question was a Randall, she has no right to lean on you or make you self impose your punishment. And IF it was a Randall, what's wrong with you? I've been lurking here for a little while now and I like to think I have some experience in this regards. I'll tell you what I know.....

Holy Toledo, Doug, I bet you will!

Do you really think a good relationship is one in which stuff is only important if it's important to you? Or don't you care about gaining someone else's respect as a life partner?

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

I enjoy cooking and I enjoy firearms and the shooting sports. My 8" chefs knife is over $200. My wife understands that my high quality kitchen knives are for one use and one use only. How would you feel if your wife was using one of your high dollar carbon fiber cleaning rods to poke something down the drain?

Same deal here, the mrs. knows that Damascus is strictly for kitchen use and respects my craziness when it comes quality blades. The OP's fiancee is clearly pizzed about more than just the knife, and went too far with her nonsense, but on principle she's got a point. Best advice so far: DO NOT marry this woman! If this kind of shit gets her crazy, just wait until there's a real problem to deal with.

I would hate to see her when he leaves the toilet seat up and sprays a bit, LOL!

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

I thought I had problems dealing with my fiancee', you got it way worse than me.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

Oh there they go....bringin the toilet seat into the equation. We are right back to the mutual respect thing. She is just as capable to lower the toilet seat as I am to raise the damn thing. At my age I use the damn thing far more than she does.
This is why no relationship is 50/50, that statement is often made by people who haven't reached nirvana in their relationship. If you think you can give 50% and she can give 50% then you are destined to fail. When you both give 100% each then you know what a healthy relationship looks like.

A couple was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Intrigued by what was behind that rare achievement, a guest at the dinner party asked the husband:

“What’s the secret to staying married for so long?” He replied, “It’s quite simple, really. You know the heel of the loaf of bread? I love eating it. But every morning when we sit for breakfast, I cut it off the loaf and give it to her.”

Not satisfied with the answer, the guest turned to the wife and asked the same question.

She replied, “It’s quite simple, really. You know the heel of the bread he was telling you about? I hate it! But every time he gives it to me, I eat it without complaining.”

My wife and I both love the heel and often are at an impasse as to who will eat it, this is just a small example of giving 100% each. I mean, I saw that latest Twilight movie, you really think I WANTED to go see that shit?

The number one problem most couples will have will be over money. I am betting that the OP, if he will be honest with himself, can trace this little incident back to money problems. I believe Broker alluded to it best

Again I need a picture. Why is it you think that therapist want to meet with you and your wife in person? If looks didn't matter you could just do a conference call.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

My grandfather told me once when I was about 6 or 7 years old, "never trust a man that doesn't carry a pocket knife". I carry 2. One for utility work and a lockback that is reserved for food. Yes, I have pulled it out at more than a few steak houses and used it. On occasion she uses it in the kitchen. But it's in my pocket. And I always carry at least 2 blades shaving sharp. The one on the lockback and at least one on the little Buck I use for almost everything else.

I've been married to the same woman for almost 43 years. I have tools I work with and she has "tools" she works with in the kitchen. I often do work with hazardous chemicals. Things in the garage stay in the garage. They NEVER make it to the kitchen.

You crossed the line. I agree with your girl friend.

Sorry to step on toes. But you DID agree.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

I didn't read the whole thread, but I catch myself wondering if this happened during her special time of the month?

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

I am on my second marriage so I have some experience here.

The best advice anyone ever gave me:

Don't marry someone you can live with.... Marry someone you can not live without.

You screwed the pooch by breaking a promise...BUT.... It should not be a capital offense and lead to days of anger, frustration and grief. This is small stuff. Forgive and Forget. If you both can't do that then it isn't going to work

Unless there is a deeper issue.... You didn't sleep with her sister did you?????

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

Around my house, if something makes a lot of unnecessary noise and it does not have four(4) legs, it is out the door.

No yelling allowed......period.

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

I have spent some time (not enough, because of geography) with this pair and spoken with Victor at length via telephone. He and his wife are a seemingly perfect working pair. His advice has weight with me..... except when he told me to marry an ex-girlfriend.

this!

Re: Angry Fiancee' - Thoughts and Comments???

If you want something done and ask her to do/not do something then you expect her to do/not do it, right?

Just cause she freaked out about it's no big deal, maybe not listening or hearing her is common and she's tired of it.

I worked the DNC this year, 12-14 hour days for about 6 days strait. Asked the wife to just keep trash from pileing up at the house. She didn't so I put all the garbage bags in her office. Just got tired of asking.

I would say talk to her about it and even though it was your fault it's immature to "punish you" like your a little kid. Grow up and act like a woman, not a dumb cunt from Real Housewives. I mean I wouldn't say that verbatim but you get the idea.

Things will get broken its life! Oh and one more thing YOU ARE AN IDIOT IF YOU MARRY HER!!!!

Fine, fine.

A ten-penny nail, a two-by-four, and the OP's custom 1911.

What's a girl gonna do if he isn't there and there isn't a good claw hammer in the house?

It seems to me, through the responses that I've seen, that a line has clearly been drawn between those with and those without the requisite experience to properly advise the OP.

Break out the crayons.

Hmmm I guess you did not read what I wrote? I said the right tool for the job! if you feel a custom 1911 is a hammer then you clearly have no knowledge of proper tool usage! I did not say it is ok to use a supposedly high dollar kitchen knife on a gun! OP should not do that! I personally think if his Fiancee can get that wound up over a knife that he will replace then he should'nt stick around to see what happens in the future when she is even more comfy with telling him where to go!
What I was getting at with the loaf of bread part is that to me a marriage is a 50/50 proposition meaning that although she bought a knife why is it a me, me, me, thing and not an our, our, our, thing? As for my "experience" you have no idea what My life experience is nor do I have an idea what yours is!

Still waiting for the Fiance's side of this but seriously, what kind of man repeatedly uses kitchen knives for utility work, damages them and is surprised when the wife (who apparently cooks in addition to holding two jobs!) is angry about it.

It isn't a mistake if it happens more than once. This reminds me of the Primitive Pete jokes we used to hear in shop class! I'm guessing there are a bunch of ginked up screw heads, screw drivers used as chisels and rocks with nail head impressions on them in that garage!

Buy some tools man.
