Went back several pages and searched and didn't see anything to help. I normally shoot CCI Segmented Subsonic .22 LR our of my suppressed 22s. That has been getting hard for me to find lately. I've also used the Aguila 60 gr SSS, CCI Standard, Fed Match.

What are y'all using for foxes, coons, etc? My hope was that the 60gr would tumble, but it doesn't appear to be doing anything but going straight through. Those segmented subsonics really put the hurt on small game.

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

T22 stated velocity shows supersonic. Are you shooting it suppressed?

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

Winchester 38gr subsonic appears to be opening pretty well on prarie dogs and ground squirrels. The Fiocchi HP also seems to work very well but does not expand much on the smaller squirrels.

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

I like the 40 grain Agulia Super Colibri, they stay sub sonic and I have put down a few pigs at less then 25 yards

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

im using wnchester 40gr subsonics and they are working great on rabbits at night through my suppresor

!! Wow
I would NOT want to shoot these suppressed. They warn you about sqibbing, especially in rifles (UNSUPPRESSED) (On The Box). I shoot them out of pistols unsuppresed and they are noticibly more quiet but I ALWAYS check for impact or squibs on EVERY SHOT.

Reference: Read: WARNING SECTION

Edit PS: these DO NOT cycle any of my semi autos

Is that the X22LRSUBA load? *Very* accurate in my Savage. For unsuppressed quiet, CCI Quiet works well for me. I've had louder air rifles.

1)• Um, unless Aguila came out with a new round the super colibri are only 20gr bullets. 2) • Super colibri are designed for rifles. Colibri are the ones that will get stuck in the barrel of a rifle because they are design for pistols, but that all depends on how tight the bore of your gun is because i have a friend who shoots the Colibri out of his old (dont remember manufactor or model but i belive its Russian made) 26' barreled bolt action. 22lr rifle and one has never jammed.

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

Oops Drop the SUPER part of my post. Just standard colibri, they are in the yellow box and are subsonic.

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

I wouldn't shoot the 60Gr's suppressed unless you have a fast rifling twist. I use the 40GR aguilia on all small game and they are DRT within 50yds no problem. They are also as accurate as Wolf Match SS out of my Savage bolt action.

I had one of those Aguila 20gr subs get stuck in a rifle barrel about three weeks ago. It was a CZ with a 17"-18" barrel. I'm just glad it didn't make it out of the muzzle and strike suppressor baffles.

Those CCI sub-sonic HPs look interesting. I wanna try those new Winchester(i think) sub-sonic 3 segment rounds but can't find them around here. Thought about using those Aguila 60gr subs but not sure if my twist rate will stabilize them enough.

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

Eley 10X works fine and lands exactly where it needs to.

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

I have had the Supers get stuck in my single six too (that was a pain in the ass cylinder was off timed) , I was not thinking when I said the Super Colibri. I buy the 40 grain stuff and I'll agree in my Hopped up 10/22 with the Lilja barrel it shoot as good or better then the Wolf, plus it has a better tone with my can then the wolf.

Re: Best subsonic varmint round

On a fluke I picked up a couple boxes of Fiocchi 38gr subsonic HPs, been shooting them in Win 52 sporter, 67 and 490 I am very pleased with accuracy and terminal performance. I love to squirrel hunt on the river bottom ,with a hi vel fullpower round one shot and u are done for 30 min, these are much quieter.
