Huge mark achieved, and really not much attention. I can't believe that the MLB didn't market the crap out of that race. I am a huge NFL fan, and don't pay much attention to baseball, but wow, can't believe a moment as huge as this didn't hardly make a stir...

i lost faith in baseball during the strike. for some reason i just cant get that interested anymore - even though my tigers are whoppin ass the last few years.

they were talking about the triple crown yesterday on the local AM station, but it dint get more than a few minutes mention as to weather or not Cabrera was going to play in the final regular season game or not to help preserve his batting average to ensure his spot to take this incredible record.

This is huge! You have to be 55 or older right now to witness and remember when this last happened. Can't believe there are actually guys ou there that want to give Trout the MVP.

Though I totally respect his right to it, I lost the rest of mine when I found out ARod was getting $250,000,000 for 10 years with the NY Yankees. For playing a friggin sport. Why dont we pay the teachers more. This is just another reflection of Jon Lesters comment on American tolerance.....

I can relate. It's a shame, too, because there's so much Americana wrapped up in that sport, going all the way back to the War Between the States. Of an evening, they sometimes would stop battles on account of impending darkness, then Billy Yank and Johnny Reb would face off in a game of "base" until it got too dark to see.

And so much of our slang comes from the game. And it has one quintessentially American aspect. If you play baseball, no matter your position on the field or spot in the batting order, so long as you remain in the game, at least every third inning, you have a chance to be the star. You get to bat (unless you're a pitcher playing in a league with designated hitters, which is an abomination before G-d).

I can't stand the fact of all the attention the NFL gets. They analyze every single game like its the fuckin super bowl. There's no beauty in this world like baseball, which people don't take the time to realize. For example. I'm typing this during the delay in the wild card game because of the bullshit infield fly call. There's nothing like baseball...

Needless to say its finally the post season. Thank god. Cabrera deserves the MVP this year. Trout, at this rate, will probably end up with 10 of em in his career anyways.

Still a very big deal! Congratulations to Miguel Cabrera!

I very well remember when the last guy did it, I was 8 and went to two games at Fenway that year. And I remain a huge fan of Yaz!

Agreed!......I was sitting in the stands at Target Field when he(Cabrera)hit number 43....a line shot that landed about 100 feet from us. A Twins fan yelled,"throw it back!" I yelled, "toss it to me!" Would love to have that baseball....

Cabrera is the best hitter I've ever seen, and yes, I remember the year Yaz won the Triple Crown.
