I am having troubles getting consistent grouping out of my rifle, even if I am completely consistent. My build is a DPMS mk12 barrel, a Jp spring kit for the trigger, MOE handguards and a Nikon Prostaff 4-12 on a REPR Mount. I really don't suspect the optic, but I could be wrong. Any ideas? And please, don't harp on fundamentals, trust me, I'm pretty well versed. Just keep it about the gun. Thank you

First and foremost...just saying that your groups are "inconsistent" doesn't give a lot of info to go on. What specifically is going on with the rifle and your accuracy/groups? Does the rifle just not group at all? Does it shoot 2MOA one minute and 4MOA another? Do your groups seem to walk around on the target? Are your groups or POA/POI changing from bench to prone (or rest to bipod...which brings up the question of how are you testing for accuracy/groups...bench, prone, bipod, bags, mechanical rest, etc.)?

After those questions and taking a lot as an assumption...the ammo is a good place to start in dealing with accuracy/grouping issues. Dump the surplus stuff and try some quality ammo like FGMM, BH, SW, Cor-bon, etc.

Re: Inconsistent.... Help!

My pa just put a DPMS barrel on his rifle and it will shoot about 1.25" at 100 with 55gr ballistic tips and that's about as good as he can shoot so it works for him.

I would do as Mr. ORD suggests and feed it some decent ammo. Surplus green tip stuff is junk.

Re: Inconsistent.... Help!

I am shooting bench rest with bags on front and rear. It will group about 3 different groups on a 10 shot strand. I will be trying different ammo, but I want to make sure that all other possibilities are out. I've tried shooting from a bipod as well. It will consistently shoot about 1.5 MOA, but the individual groups are so tight I know it could shoot better. How much of a difference would switching to free-float be?
