I started researching the 300 blackout and got hooked. I used to hunt with a 20" 7.62x39 upper, but sold it and started my .300 blackout build! I live in florida and this round will be perfect for the hunting we do around here. Mostly under 125 yards and either deer or hogs is what she will be used for. I will be shooting the Barnes hunting round from Southwest Ammunition.

Specs on the build: Spikes Tactical upper receiver, Wilson Combat fluted 16" Match barrel, RRA M16 Bolt Carrier group, BCM gunfighter Mod 3 charging handle, Noveske low profile gas block, Rainier Arms 12" Evolution Rail, Vltor flash hider, American Defense quick disconnect 30mm mount with a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4 TR24g... which is the green chevron. Shes purrrrrrrdy!! The Lower is simpler... Its a plain Bushmaster Lower receiver with a RRA 2 stage trigger, hogue grip and a magpul Moe stock ... All with a VTAC OD green sling. Here are the pictures:

So, how do yall think she will shoot?!

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Nice build. It should shoot great. I'm working on a similar build but with a 14.5 Wilson Combat barrel and a permanently attacked Surefire muzzle break. I can't wait to get my TRIM rail which has been on back order for several months already so I can finish it up.

BTW don't start researching the 6.8 Spc II or you may have another build on your hands.

Thanks. And yeah i've read about the 6.8 a good bit before I decided to do this... I know it has a little bit more power to it, but I really like the idea behind the .300 blackout because of the standard bcg and mags. Only the barrel is the difference. Plus if I want to ever handload it, I have a ton of 223 brass I can use. I hope it shoots great!

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Those are the reasons I choose the 300 Blackout over the 6.8.

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Very nice! You should love it. I have a 16" noveske. Let us know how the wilson combat shoots. Buddy of mine put one together awhile back and havn't even shot it yet! Looks great though!

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

excellent caliber choice, I just shot 200 rd in mine today with my reloads and tested a bunch of different bullets from pulled 308 147 gr to pulled 30-06 tracers and 155 palma, all shot great. Brass is so easy to make and cheap, you won't worry about loosing a few unlike some other calibers.
congrats on a very nice build, hogs won't know what hit them

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

the clincher for me looks to be the ease of install and the fact that i dont have to buy a special tool to install it. i just bought something i may not keep after seeing this system

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

I lived in Bradenton for several years and always had trouble deciding on a hunting rifle for deer and hogs while there because I either felt undergunned or WAY overgunned for the job based on what I had in the safe at the time. Your setup appears to be about the perfect balance and should serve you VERY well!

Congrats on a damn nice build. Be sure to put up a thorough range report once you have a chance to put some rounds through her soon!!

Thanks man! I shot her today! I will put up some pictures later tonight... I dont have time right now cause im grilling up some dillo dusted burgers! It shot GREAT though! No hiccups at all! I shot just under 60 rounds through her. Zeroed it in about 5 rounds and fine tuned it from there shooting some groups. I was using the 115 grain remington range ammo. And I had groups in the 1-1 1/2" range @ 100 yards. I am very pleased! I cant wait to see what my southwest ammo does with the good Barnes ammo I will be hunting with. I'll get back here later tonight for those pictures.

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Here are my group shots when I was sighting it in. I feel like it can only get better from here once I get my good ammo from southwest.

This was the first group once I got it real close to zero... then I adjusted it a little bit more below...

My last five shot group. And remember this is just the Remington UMC 115 grain range ammo. Nothing special. But, I think it shoots pretty good!!!

Once I get the barnes stuff from southwest I will then fine tune it even better.

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Nice build and nice groups. I considered buying a 300 Blackout before I picked up my Noveske. Now all I need is an upper.

Lehigh Defense 200 Grain Maximum Expansion. They are a subsonic bullet, but plenty to kill deer and hogs.

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Those things look nasty! Maybe I will go that route if I ever get a suppressor for it. thanks

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Looks good. Shooting suppressed was the biggest draw to 300 blk for me. Nice work

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Awesome build!

Mine is in progress right now, should have my barrel by this time next week. Your post is fueling my excitement!

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Good looking rifle. I am wanting to buy a 300 Blackout upper myself.

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Thanks for the info... I think i will have to order some to try out on some pigs.

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

They work wonders on hogs. Also, try the controlled fracture rounds. When you're, post some pictures. They are one hitter quitters.

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

I really like the handguard. Where did you get that from? Didn't see it on the rainier arms website.

Re: .300 BLACKOUT "Hunter" build finished!!

Nice looking blackout dude! If we could just get hunting with suppressors legal here in Fl.

looks to be currenlty out of stock.
Just got one for an 18" rifle gas BHW build

12.37" 11.0 ozs with heat sinks

When I got the package I thought maybe they forgot to put the rail in the box. </div></div>

I thought the exact same thing. This rail is light! and purdy to boot!

Also, I just put a LMT sopmod stock on it now and its even more comfortable to shoot!
