Just curious, am I the only one waiting patiently for the release of the AX AICS, or are there others. At least it has given me plenty of time to save the money and build this rifle right the first time. It is my first build and the stock is the final piece of the puzzle. Here is my little Frankenstein project:

Remington 700 action; blueprinted for accuracy and Ionbonded for durability
20" Bartlien barrel w/ 1:11.75 twist and Surefire FA762SS suppressor adapter
AX AICS
Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 w/NPR1, zerostop, and high speed turrets
Atlas V8 bipod
Timney Trigger
Gruningprecision.com steel rings and scope base
Then I'm planning on sending the whole thing to Todd at Phantom Finishings for a Multicam makeover.

Jim at Gruningprecision.com is putting this little baby together for me and it has been a great experience. The man is extremely attentive to detail and he is a he'll of a nice guy.

I'd love to hear your opinions.

Re: Ax Aics

I have been waiting on one since the original release date....got a McMillan, doubt I will jump on the AX when it comes out, but may pick one up at a later date

Re: Ax Aics

I am getting one for my custom build 338 Lapua, I am having done by Mike @ Underground Skunkworks.

Re: Ax Aics

Looks like a nice build!

Yeah. I'm on the sidelines also waiting for one as well.

Really like the features on the AX.

Thought we'd see them released about now.

I only have one brown truck token left from the wife and I want to use it on this....

Re: Ax Aics

You could get the Ashbury SABER-FORSST chassis...if your moneybags are deep and full.

$1650-ish for the Mod 0 (no monolithic rail/scope base)
$2550-ish for the Mod 1 (monolithic rail/scope base)

Re: Ax Aics

that Ashbury looks nice, but the wait time on one of those looks to be pretty long also, although they are avialable now. From what I have been told and have read, the AX should be available sometime this month. Of course thats been said for several months now, only AI knows for sure. So for now, I'll hurry up and wait. Im used to it.

+1, I am very eager to see them when they come out, but being in the middle of a build I opted for a mcmillan instead. I will more than likely snag one for my next build though.

Re: Ax Aics

Remmy 700 .308, 20" Bartlien 1:11.25 twist w/ Surefire muzzle break and Suppressor, AI AXCS chassis, Atlas bipod, Nightforce 5.5-22x56, Gruning Precision rings and custom base built for the AX chassis. and the bolt knob was built by Chad Dixon of Longrifles inc. The barreled action, bolt, chassis tube, base, rings, and three magazines were all sent to Ionbond and coated. The scope, Atlas bipod, and a few misc. chassis parts were dropped off w/ Dave of Dave's Metal Works where he has a guy who does Cerakoting for him.

I am extremely pleased with how she turned out and need to hit the range ASAP. She was completely paid for by yours truly, but she will be my work gun from here on out.

For what it's worth, I purchased the chassis, Atlas bipod, and extra AI magazines from Mile High Shooting. The glass came from Eurooptics. I did my research and got great pricing on everything I purchased.

And a huge "Thank You" to Sniper's Hide for educating me along the way. This was truly a build based on what I learned here.

Re: Ax Aics

Interesting color choices...... how are you in southern Cal with a suppressor?

I would guess this has something to do with it...

Re: Ax Aics

Based on the OP's post history, it looks like he's some sort of LEO...in which case (to my understanding), he's got a lot more purchasing freedom than the rest of us.

Re: Ax Aics

Sorry, I overlooked the suppressor. It belongs to Gruning Precision. He's our department gun builder and installs them fairly regularly. I am trying to get them approve for our team so I had the brake installed just in case. I wish I could own one, but Gerry brown knows what's best for me and won't allow it.

As for color selection, I wanted the entire aluminum portion of the chassis to be Ionbond FDE, but there are a ton of moving parts on the rear portion of the chassis and the fellas at Ionbond said it would need to be completely disassembled, little pins and all, if they were to coat it. I decided black would be fine. As for the green, I wanted the tan AXCS but it as not available when I ordered my chassis. I considered cerakoting the plastics but thought the mixture of colors wouldn't look too bad. When it was all put together, I liked it a lot more than I ever expected.

Now if I can get a few days off, I'm gonna shoot her and see what she can do. I expect she will shoot better than me.
