I recently visited a well know plastics company and they showed us how they were making injection molded copper/ nylon bullets in 5.56 for the olin corporation. Anyone know anything else about these bullets or if its possible to get some for reloading? Tried google and couldn't find much at all.

No they didn't say much, just that they flew straighter than conventional bullets and i think he said flatter. Which I would have a hard time believing, as there is no way that they could be as dense as conventional bullets. I would image that they probably are only using these as practice rounds.

You're confusing two different laws of physics. A Nylon bullet is going to be far lighter than it's lead/copper cousin so it will absolutely fly flatter (initially) but it will lack the inertia to carry that flatness beyond any respectable distance. Think of it in terms of a 17HMR vs a .308. The 17HMR is far faster and flatter shooting but it's only good to 100 or so yards.

Re: copper nylon bullets

Cabela's sells nylon jacketed pistol ammo under the Herter's name. Aluminum cased. Selling point is low cost, but for a dollar or two more you can get copper jacketed pistol ammo (box of 50)in brass, reloadable cases.

Don't know how thick the nylon layer is. Judging from cost, I assume it's lead core rather than copper.

Looks like they use CounterSniper's PR team.

What a bunch of bullshit.
