Havent got to play much with this round. And one of the local PD's wanted to try out a 6.8. Top is a 7.5" build on an auto lower, and the bottom needs to go to paint yet, but is an a 11" er. this is a neat little round. I threw these togeather for some T&E tomarrow at their traning facility. Want to test them as CQB and longer range on gelitain.

What ammo are most of you running on your's. We got a good bit of 115 OTM ssa ammo to try out. BUt there seems to be quite a bit of variety out there now for these?

Re: New 6.8 SPC II SBR's

For those super shorty SBRs you can't beat the Barnes 85gr TSX loads. I had an 8" LWRCI PSD in 6.8 and it loved the stuff. Plus, it's relatively barrier blind and has very good terminal ballistics characteristics.

Re: New 6.8 SPC II SBR's

Those are pretty slick looking. What are the barrels/specs?

I will agree with the 85gr TSX's. I have a few mags loaded with them for SHTF. I don't think a PD wants reloads but the 90gr TNTs are great for the price if you do reload. Contact SSA for bulk ammo orders and I'm sure they provide other LEO with ammo so they should be able to help with bullet advice.

If you haven't already, join the 68Forums.

Re: New 6.8 SPC II SBR's

barrels are E.R.Shaw. There local to me and had the 6.8 blanks i needed. Threaded them 5/8x24. on standard uppers, SE carriers, and PRI bolts. Both are gas systems. Well see how dirty they get today.

We did go the ssa route for the PD. and are ttrying out the 115 stuff. Not a memebr on the 68forum, but browsed it this morning.

Re: New 6.8 SPC II SBR's

Good deal, there are several ER Shaw 6.8 pipes being used now, some just have different specs. I have one that is just as accurate as my PacNor. Killer barrels for the money.

Re: New 6.8 SPC II SBR's

From the research I've done make sure the PRI Mags are used. I just built a 6.8SPC 16" hunting carbine and from what I've gathered they are the most reliable.

Very cool looking rifles.

While the PRIs are nice, the new mags from CPD are running great and are a hell of a lot cheaper. Both allow 2.29"+ OAL loads which is what you want.

Re: New 6.8 SPC II SBR's

You really only need 2.30 COAL on a PD gun if you're thinking of shooting the SSA 140gr Berger loads. These are probably not the best fit in these SBRs because your initial MV will be so low. The vast majority of factory loads (including the new 90gr Federal stuff - may or may not be available to civilians stateside) are 2.26" or shorter.

Re: New 6.8 SPC II SBR's

The SSA 115 preformed very well. We did fing out howver that the battlecomp, even though it works really well, is way to lod LOL. We will try a Noveske Pig on it.
