Now looking at my best case scenario of Bama wins:
@Missouri bama has a 95% of winning -- .95
@Tennessee -- 95% of winning -- .95
Miss State -- 90% of winning -- .90
@LSU -- 50% of winning -- .50
aTm -- 65% of winning -- .65
West Carolina -- locked -- 1
Auburn -- 90% of winning -- .90

Add it all up and you get 5.85 wins. That means Bama will lose at least 1 before the SEC Championship Game according to this formula.

Before you Bama Homers get mad, I worked the numbers heavy in Bama's favor. </div></div>

LSU just got owned in every aspect of the game by Florida. And FL is not particularly a strong team this year. Then they blamed their loss on the heat in FL......

They have no talent, no offensive coaching and no O line coaching. They wont beat Bama. No way.

You still dont know what your talking about. Can Bama suffer a loss, sure, but it will be like last year.... they would avenge it in style. It would have to be something they cause. Beating themselves so to speak. </div></div>

LSU loss to Florida is the worse thing that could have happened to Bama. This is football... teams need to lose to change and adjust.. because if it works why change?

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

It will be interesting if Bama wins this weekend and then is ranked 2 or 3 in the BCS rankings when they come out.

Not going to happen, all the Computers have Bama easily #1.

Sagarin's "Predictor" has Bama 2 TD's better than LSU right now!!!

Phil Steele Power Rankings are as follows:
Bama 155
South Carolina 153
Oregon 152
USC 152
ND 151
Florida 150
LSU 149

Florida gained 7 pts since the start of the season. LSU lost 7 points. At the beginning of the year, LSU was power rated higher than Bama in Steeles rankings, as well as many others. However, the power ranking changes week to week, based on the power rankings right now, It looks like LSU only has about a 40% chance of beating Bama @LSU.

Looking at the predicted ratings the computers have Bama around 4th but their total still puts them in 1st for the BCS. It looks like the computers arent liking their strength of schedule so far in the season.

Won't happen unless the Bammer's are completely lackluster.

I heard a detailed explanation on ESPN today re how the BCS rankings are generated. It sounded like the computer plays a very minor roll in the equation only coming into play if teams are very close together. The human polls have the most influence by far in the process.

All the hand wringing by the various fan bases at this time each season is amusing when it comes to rankings. If your team keeps winning games, theyll be in the hunt at the end of the regular season.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

As a rabid Bama fan I can tell you we only care about one ranking and one game. That's the one where they give you a glass football after you win it. Okay and the Iron Bowl but that's it, Okay an the third Saturday of October.

You are correct Sir! The BCS Computers ranked base on what a team has done so far (as they should).

People, like to rank based on future projections. Only time they don't is after the last game.

Now there are BCS Computers that do "predict", but these computers are not used for the rankings.

It's only week6, Things are going to shuffle a lot more before it's all said and done.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

Bama laid a beat down on Missouri today in the bad weather. It was another dominating performance. I don't see how they cant be ranked #1.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

Bama pounds Missouri. Look out TN!
Spurrier's 'Cocks take it hard yesterday from LSU.
Don't count out the Bengal Tigers yet.
I think that game just proves even more that the SEC can be unpredictable.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

RollTide! Holy Cow, I know Missouri is not all that, but any dominating win on the road deserves respect!

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

I'm with you Dagsta. A true Alabama fan, but beating a Missouri team with a back-up qb is not earth moving. They lost to Vandy the week before. A much improved Vandy but still Vandy.

The starting QB has done nothing all year. It's ok, just one game, lots of football still left.

Yes indeed. Bama vs Florida for the SEC Champ game. Another 2009. I wish you guys luck. Should be a good game. To bad the game before will be a cake walk for the Tide.

The is no joy in Mudville for the Auburn Tigers.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

My loyalties are complicated!

My wife and I attended USF and our Oldest is starting there in January.

Our youngest kid attends UA.

So while not alumni of UF, we've always rooted for them since before USF had a football team!

For all practical purposes, USF effectively has no team this year...

So it will be interesting to see what occurs in the next few weeks. Alabama still has LSU to get past and Florida - Georgia games can be surprising.

I'm thinking it will be Florida vs. Bama as well for the SEC Championship.

All that said, I don't think Auburn is looking to throw in the towel just yet.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

This season is not done yet!
AL will face it toughest challenges of the year in MS State and LSU.
I am ready to concede that it will be Gators versus someone at the SEC Championship though. They are looking tough.

Lose to Vandy and your out! This is Gene's last season. He was truly a one hit wonder.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

Gene has that big buyout in his contract that will keep him there next year.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

He does have a big buyout but he hasn't won an SEC game yet.... Auburn may decide to find the money and put him on the road.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

If yesterday's AU/A&M game didn't get Gene's job nothing will. He was seemingly complacent that the TIgers got an old fashioned ass whipping last night.
UA didn't have their best game on last night either. Yes, I know they beat MSST handily but, their minds seemed to be on next weekend's showdown with LSU. I still believe MSST has a very good football team, just not the caliber I thought they were.
Lastly, how about the GA Bulldogs? They put it on The Gators yesterday.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

I *think* Georgia will play in the SEC championship if they beat Ole Miss and Auburn. If they lose either, Florida still plays.

I *think* that is how it is supposed to work.
Could be wrong.

Can't make up your mind who to cheer for this week?

Yep, and even though I'm a Florida fan, the East is just playing to see who gets their butt whipped in the SEC Championship game.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

Well, even the most die hard of Bama fans had to go to bed last night knowing who played the best. It was not UA by far. There are times when the best teams are just going to have an off night. Last night was that night for UA and it could not have come at a worse time. LSU, though they didn't get thru their off night with Florida, is a quality team. By far the best The Tide has seen in two seasons. They played with class and heart. Blame the loss on Les and his trickery. Had he not tried it and failed LSU would/could have gotten the W they deserved.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

It was frustrating to watch Alabama in the 2nd half last night. They played their worst game of the season and LSU probably played their best....bad combination. As crappy as Mettzenberger (sp?) played all year and he has his best game last night really hurt us. I was pleased with the outcome, just not with the 2nd half performance.

Hopefully, they got their "bad game" out of their system last night and will be good from here on.

I've been telling people all year that the weak link in Alabama's game is their pass defense. Last night really showed that. Someone like Oregon or K-state could really exploit that in the championship game.

Hmmm, I was saying the same thing last year about Alabama and McCarron. He didn't come close to playing nor did Alabama the game they played in the NC game.

I will say this about last nights game. Was a hard fought game, Although Alabama got outplayed, the best team won. You won't face another team that can put the same talent on the field this year.

I said earlier this year and will say it again. The NC is yours to lose.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

My thoughts:

Was LSU's defense even on the field during Alabama'a last drive? Didnt look like it.

We finally got to see what Mettenberger can do when the receivers actually catch the ball.

And last but not least, did everyone see the Bama Sucks pin stuck on the mascots head during game day?

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

As said, the NC is Bama's to lose.

Our secondary was lackadaisical at best. It was pathetic. It is our weakest link but they reverted to soft coverage( letting the receivers get large breaks after making a move) and just plain letting the receivers catch the ball instead of trying to break it up. Our defense just looked so uninspired to be out there last night. It was sickening. Also AJ had a horrible game

As far as Mettzenberger, Im so sick of shitty quarterbacks having the game of their lives against Bama. Don't get used to seeing that LSU fans. Ask Steven Garcia in 2010. I understand the whole bullseye on the back, and its their championship, but come on, at least resemble your normal crappy play.

LSU definitely played the better game and can hold their heads high. If only the had a reasonable coach they could be celebrating a win today.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

LSU played their best game and then lost it all in that last minute of that game. Even Alabama played horrible and LSU could not finish them. If everyone stays healthy I don't think there is another team in the country that can touch them now.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

The Tide will roll in 2012 just as sure as houndstooth can be found
in that state. Imo, the only team that "might" have a chance at
defeating Bama outside an SEC team would be Kansas State.
But, not if Bama plays it's A game. The Tide are just so damn strong
defensively. That my 2 cents anyway.

Re: Alabama tries to avoid history.

The way Alabama played, and the way Georgia is playing, if they meet in the SEC champ game Tide will get all they want. And you can already hear Saban complaining about Oregon. I'm sure he'll play anyone anytime, but would rather see KSU.

Is that a school for the blind? Auburn isn't going to be beating much of anyone this season....

If UGA plays like they did against South Carolina.... Tide will destroy them. Saban complaining about Oregon? I doubt that very much. He might complain how they get in his way to another National Title. Alabama is a physically large team, Oregon and KSU would not be able to do much on their defense alone. Then you bring in the large receivers and running backs, game over for the 2 small schools.

I'm sorry KYS but if it comes down to Oregon and Bama Oregon will give them all they can handle. Yes, Bama is big and fast but Oregon is very fast and athletic. If you think Oregon would be a pushover it would be a mistake.

Speaking of; Alabama once again looked like they were playing a high school team.

Per your A&M post; Florida came back strong but yeah, no question A&M is looking very good. Manziel was very impressive! A walk on freshman no less!

Manziel is not a walk on. He was committed to play for Oregon before a&m offered.

Oregon might be a challenge but not a threat.... I've watched their games. I don't care how fast you are when you are on your back looking up trying to figure out who knocked your ass out.

Some say LSU and Death Valley is the hardest place to play in the SEC. Bama went in, played poorly, and still won the game. 2nd team to do that since 1992 I believe they said.
