Tikka T3 questions

Looking at my next project and have a few questions for the tikka owners out there.

1: I know the bolt face of a .270 is the same as the 6.5x47 but is it possible to get a new bolt stop to make the bolt throw shorter?

2: If a bolt stop isn't available. Would there be any problems running a 6.5x47 in a action set up for a .270? Mainly thinking ejection problems but I don't know.

Re: Tikka T3 questions

Here is the bolt stop kit. http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/bol...1611-60090.aspx

As you may know or find out, the Tikka T3 are priced very competitively, but the parts are way out there. Personally, I would order the bolt stop kit because they are in stock. If they run out, you may never know when they will get more. Brownells is one of the very few US small parts distributor for BerrettaUSA / Tikka OEM parts.

Now since you have a 270 already, I would have it fit for the new cartridge and try to use the current long action mag and bolt stop. This will allow you to seat your bullets to the lands and feed from mags. If the mag is too long and you have feeding problems, then use the appropriate med action mag and change the bolt stop. I do not think you will have a problem selling the extra bolt stops if you dont need them.

Re: Tikka T3 questions

The actions are all the same so you shouldn't have any ejection issues. I'm amazed how expensive that bolt stop is though. That's a MIM'd part I think. Crazy.

Re: Tikka T3 questions

I converted a .270 to a .260 and have had no issues so far. I'd say you were good to go.
