Some disrespectful bitch posing behind the silence and respect sign at Arlington giving it the bird with her hand to the side of her mouth as if she's yelling. I would post it but i think it's a picture that should be linked.

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

Loving all the facebook comments on the LIFE page. There might just be enough pressure to get something done about this disgrace of a person.

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

Good job bish! Lost your reputation, turned the free world against you and most likely lost your job too!

Spectacular fail.

Stupid, disrespectful cunt.

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

Looks like a public shaming is in order. This person embodies what is wrong with this country.

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

I have been working at Arlington recently and i would not have liked to see any reactions of people who saw her do that. They have funerals every day with lots of guys in uniform who probably wouldn't take kindly to that. It is definitely a place that requires a certain level of respect from everybody

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

From her employer's Facebook page after it was slammed by the masses for her picture:

"On Nov. 19 at approximately 6 p.m., we became aware that one of our employees had posted an offensive, inappropriate photograph on her personal Facebook page. The photo was taken at a national historic site in October by a fellow employee during a trip to Washington, D.C. attended by 40 residents and eight staff. The photo has since been removed from Facebook, and >>>>>>both employees have been placed on unpaid leave pending the results of an internal investigation.<<<<<<<

This photograph in no way reflects the opinions or values of the LIFE organization, which holds our nation’s veterans in the highest regard. We are proud to have veterans serving on our staff and board of trustees, and we value their service. The men and women who have selflessly fought and sacrificed their lives to protect the rights and lives of Americans deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. We are acutely aware that this photo has done a disservice to veterans and we are deeply saddened that it was taken and shared in a public medium."

It does reflect the fact that they hired both her and the photographer and had she not done something patently stupid by posting it, she would still be an employee of LIFE today.

LIFE's carefully-phrased and well-vetted statement, put out by the PR department, is a start. But LIFE's actions need to be a lot more far-reaching than 'an internal investigation.' For one thing, none of the '40 residents or eight staff' did anything about her actions at Arlington... did any report it to management? If not, all of them need to be fired, IMHO.

Through the miracle of Digital Tattoos (or Digital DNA, whichever term you prefer) this will hopefully haunt this individual forever...

Then again, she's probably already getting job offers from those who think what she did was avant garde, hip, edgy and conscious-driven... She'll end up running a foundation somewhere.

And LIFE can say all they want about respecting veterans. But if they have a culture that hired and tolerated this person, those are some pretty empty words they are tossing out in their press statement.

In disgust...

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

I don't think I would harass her friends or family over this. She is clearly an immature douche bag. I would venture a guess she has done some serious growing up the last couple of days. She probably can't go anywhere without being harassed or threatened. She is also rapidly being un-friended on Facebook, 13 less friends than just a couple of hours ago.

<span style="font-weight: bold">"We wish to announce that the two employees recently involved in the Arlington Cemetery incident are no longer employees of LIFE. Again, we deeply regret any disrespect to members of the military and their families. The incident and publicity has been very upsetting to the learning disabled population we serve. To protect our residents, any comments, however well-intentioned, will be deleted. We appreciate your concern and understanding as we focus on the care of our community."</span>

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

Eight additional employees were present and saw the actions of Lindsay Stone, according to the company press release. Yet none took action or made any reports.

Nothing would have happened to Stone if she had not posted her idiotic picture on Facebook where some veterans could see it and re-post it.

And she remains un-repentant, her apology merely saying that she is sorry for posting the picture and causing the uproar. Nothing about her disrespect for our veterans. Basically, she is only sorry that she got caught.

At Arlington, her co-workers ignored and/or endorsed her actions either by egging her on or by their in-action.

The other eight staffers need to be addressed.

This sick individual was facilitated by an organization that allowed her and her ilk to thrive. They sent her and her manager (the photographer) to Arlington. Just addressing the two who caused the uproar will not deal with the culture that has apparently evolved at LIFE.

IMHO, a house-cleaning is needed at LIFE beyond just the two who, so far, have been terminated.

As I have said before, I am an unsympathetic SOB. I, for one, favor very, very severe penalties for this woman and the organization that put her at Arlington. They are all responsible for this act against our greatest heroes.

Fellow 'Hiders, please pardon my unsympathetic SOB-ness.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

I think I'd cut the company, and those who work there but weren't directly involved, a break and let them all move on. It was a stupid photo on Lindsey's part, but the consequences at this point have outweighed the harm done. Not only for the two involved in taking the photo, but especially for a nonprofit that depends on donations and the goodwill of others to perform a public service.

I haven't served in the military, but many friends who have expressed that they believed one of the things they fight to defend is the freedom for people to express their opinions and ideas, even if that includes making a fool of one's self. Believing only in freedom of speech for those with whom we agree is no doubt easier, but I think we're better off letting those with whom we disagree speak their mind so that each can hear them and decide for themselves. Here, it seems a clearly unpopular photo is resulting in a mob mentality and overreacting, with more implied threats on her life than I can count among various forums.

We have enough real problems that need to be fixed, such as resolving our debt problems and the impending "fiscal cliff," which are worthy of more energy and anger and that still present a real problem.

While I can only hope that this disrespect follows her for the rest of her life and that she reapes what she has sowen, I hesitate to get caught up in the anger and start a witch hunt for the sake of a witch hunt. As a guy that owns a business and has employees, the idea that I could be held even a little resposible for their personal actions outside of my place of employment scares the shit out of me. I would fire them on the spot for some stupid shit like this, but the idea that I could be blamed for their actions by association seems a bit much. I think they did what they should have by firing both folks and making it very clear that this was completely unacceptable to them.

Just my .02

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

JHN and 1911:

I agree completely. The company itself is not the responsible entity. But there are more people there who are accountable.

In any case, it's over. In the grand scheme of things, it's a tempest in a teacup. I'll settle for the results (not that I have much of a choice) and by next week we probably all will have forgotten about Lindsay...

Let's just not forget about those she dishonored.

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Cheers,

I don't think anyone is disputing her right to post whatever she wants. That goes two ways though: we can be express our feelings about her actions as well. Her employer can fire her for virtually any reason, and in this case it could be activity that severely damages the company's mission while on company time.

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

I hate to see this or hear of it. It is sad to think that this would even cross someones mind to do no matter why they were doing it. Here is her reply to this pic:

"Whoa whoa whoa... wait," she wrote on Oct. 20, according to Gawker. "This is just us, being the douchebags that we are, challenging authority in general. Much like the pic posted the night before, of me smoking right next to a no smoking sign. OBVIOUSLY we meant NO disrespect to people that serve or have served our country."

She said "OBVIOUSLY we meant NO disrespect to people that serve or have served our country." how in the hell can she say that. She should have to stand next to a 5' X 5' of that picture at the entrance to Arlington for the next year and look everyone in the eye who comes to a service there. But I am sure it would not bother that self righteous bitch. Her job is secured by the very people who she is disrespecting.

Very very sad indeed.

Absolutely. And I believe the company needed to make clear it found her behavior unacceptable. But, I've seen too many implied death threats and other posts in various forums that approach being as offensive as her original photo.

I did like the idea one poster here had of her employer having her do community service for those who lost their lives defending our country, but the pressure to fire her was apparently too strong.

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

Ill probably get roasted for this, but do you realise that you guys are all screaming about the disrespect to veterans, but your problem is the way she is using her first amendment rights, a right provided by those same deceased veterans?

Dont get me wrong, I think her behavior is atrocious, but since when is it ok to completely ruin someones life for doing something that is guaranteed by our constitution?

By that logic it should be ok for libs to find out that I have a big gun collection, and lobby my employer to fire me because these libs think Im a nut. You can argue its different all you want, but it isnt. Its opinion, plain and simple.

Re: Facebook's Fastest Rising Star

The 1st amendment protects the freedom of speech from the government. It doesn't say anything about restricting the actions of private individuals. In other words, yes she has the right to say that, to post the picture and go on. I also have the right to write on her facebook page that she was extreme disrespectful and to point her behavior out to anyone else I might feel like. Her employer may (legally) decide that her public behavior is causing damage to the company and fire her.

The 1st amendment is a shield against the Federal government and by case law extension, states and local governments. It is not a shield against legal action taken by private entities. Actions still have consequences.
