Suppressors Questions about suppressing a .22-250

Hola, gents. Long time lurker, one-time poster here.
I came across a video on YouTube several months ago with some guys coyote hunting with suppressed rifles (I'm sure a few of you have seen it before, THIS isn't the video I watched, but it's from the same guys). This got me on a kick to slap a suppressor on my Interarms Mark X .22-250.

My question is, would actually suppressing a .22-250 be a moot point/futile effort considering that the bullet is moving so fast? In other words, would the sonic crack of the bullet negate any benefit of suppressing the rifle (especially downrange)?

If it helps, I mainly target shoot with the rifle, and use the it very occasionally for hunting, but I don't plan on packing it through the woods with a can (I don't even know if that's legal in Kentucky or not).
I mainly want to do it because I can, but obviously with the added benefit that it's going to quiet it down some, at least for me while I'm shooting it.

ETA- forgot to mention, I tried searching for this topic already, and couldn't really find anything relating to this. If I missed something along the way, I sincerely apologize.

Re: Questions about suppressing a .22-250

A suppressor will muffle the muzzle report, that's it. Just like the muffler on your exhaust: it quiets the exhaust, but not the door slamming or the wind noise during travel.

And YES, it is worth it. Being able to shoot a rifle without hearing protection on/in your ears is great. Find someone who will let you hear and shoot with his can.

Re: Questions about suppressing a .22-250

There are a lot of 223P-1s and 30P-1s suppressing 22-250s out there.

Yep I use a 30P-1 on mine and it works very well. Makes prairie dog shooting in South Dakota (cause WY isn't on board yet) a lot more pleasurable. Ranchers like it too as now I can shoot the towns next to the house when before the weren't real fans of all the booming going on.

I use a 30p-1 on mine works great...

Ray how is the 223p-1 compare to the 30p-1 on a 22-250.

Thanks for the replies! Looks like it's time to seriously start putting some cash away!

Re: Questions about suppressing a .22-250

i use one on a 204 ruger and it works very very well. its still super sonic, but MUCH quieter.

its going to be the same for 22-250, same speed.

id recommend the extra volume of the can since there is a lot more powder vs the 223.

I'm surprised it made a worthwhile difference on such a fast round. That is great to hear! I am going to investigate putting one on mine as well. Just finished the Gun Trust, so now its time to shop.
