I shot some Doubletap 300gr. Sierra HPBT match last weekend. It was right at 2800 fps. and yielded a 5/8" 4-shot group at 100 yards. My reloads were another issue all together. I think that I had the bullets seated out too far. I realize that this gun needs to be shot at 300 plus yards, but I just didn't have time to take it to the longer range. I will soon, however.

Ultrastealth,

What is your overall take on the build quality of your Savage? I've been seriousley contemplating getting into .338 LM, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a rifle (as I'll be spending said arm and leg on ammo). Nice shooting by the way.

I am also considering this as my long range gun also, but after handling one at the gun shop the other day I am starting to reconsider that. So anybody with input sure would be helpful.

Re: Range report Savage 110 FCA .338 Lapua

I'm very happy with mine. There are only three things that I don't like. First, the bolt race is not tight, allowing a lot of wiggle when cycling the bolt. Second, the magazine rattles a little, and it's to the point where I think having a second mag is a good idea in case the original is lost. Lastly, new mags are $120, and nobody, including Savage, seems to have them in stock.

Brownells usually has them for about $80 or in the Hide store I saw them for I think $88

I find it massively effective. Less recoil than my HK91.

Yes, it's very effective, and probably larger than necessary as well. I'm waiting on a stamp for a Thunderbeast suppressor, and, when it arrives, I'll be putting on their QD brake.

Please give me a link, because I can't find them on either site.

Brownells is acting up for me but just search accurate mag and you should find them.
