16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

The barrels are LW-50 and testing has been M118LR and Hornady 110 and 168 TAP.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

that's a sweet rifle!!

Does Larue have any plans to offer a handguard like that for the Ar15?

I need a handguard for a project, but I don't need full rails on the sides and bottom. Right now the troy TRX extreme is at the top of my list. I'd much rather go with a larue product, but I don't see the logic in paying for the extra "rail" estate I'll never use.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

What's lead time looking like on these now, SGDM? It's beautiful - mine comes in next week if my luck holds and I know the guys are going to wonder how long it would take to get one!

Suckers!

Thanks for the write-up, look forward to the update!

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

Just a big FYI, the price is going up 5 big one$ tonight at midnight - $2,995.00

Anybody that wants to take advantage of the situation best to be gettin' on with it.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

LaRue-Any word on when the 18/20s are going to start going out? Will there still be the long port selection inlet with the port being outside the handguard?
CC
ps. I got in line a few months ago. Can't wait.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

if you guys are looking where to order, Larue had to move it to a different server because they last host didnt like them selling full fire arms. its here: http://larueosr.com/OBR.aspx
they set up that e comerce site about 6 months ago. They raise the price at midnight, better hurry. I have been in line since last feb and cant wait.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

If you ordered now, I think they are saying 4-8 months, most likely in the 6 month range. Larue is making most everything for the rifle in house, receivers, bolt grops, hand guards, generic stocks. Geiselle triggers, and im not sure they disclose their barrell manufacturer, Would have to do a little searching to come up with the twist rate, but I remember its pretty generic as far as 308's go. You should be able to dig up more info over on ARforums .com, then under industry, then under larue tactical. there is a bunch of threads on there.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

As they promised, they are now 500 bux more expensive. whoever said guns arent an investment. haha.
Hey CJ Im located over in kitsap county, we should go shooting sometime.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

The extra 500 just pushed it into the "not worth the money or wait" for me. You could have GAP build you one for that $/wait.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

ditto. at 2450 it was a good deal and i was going to the site to pull the trigger..at 3k id rather spec out a build with gap

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

Heads-up ...

Shot three (3) OBR 16"ers just a little bit ago.

5-shot 100-yard groups sizes were thus ...

Rifle #1 - .560"
Rifle #2 - .430"
Rifle #3 - .735"

1.725 / 3 = .575" average

Happy with the way things turned out.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

I apologize for resurrecting an old thread; but does anyone know the explanation for the $500 price hike?

I saw the posters when it was 2500 and was planning on ordering one but now im thinking twice.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

It probably brought the margin in line with other products, why does KAC want 7000?

KAC has tons of overhead if you just look at their facility. But yes i suppose it is a good point.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

2500 wast just an intro price. Early adopters received a price break, and the earlier adopters (folks who pre-ordered) received other goodies on top of that (scope mount, etc - not just the standard dust and what not)

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

I have an 18" OBR now. Kinda dig the way the reciever bolts up to the handguard. And I love the gas block with the selector. Cant wait for good weather to shoot it with a GAP-10 and compare.

Re: 16" LaRue OBR at 1000 yards

I wish you would compare the two. My brother is looking to get a 308 semi and has narrowed down to Larue or Gap.

Could also use the CTR wi the RISIR from LaRue so the riser moves back with the chargng handle as another option.

You can thank me for the RISR, since I pointed that out to Mark when the rifle first came out. He got his panties in a wad and did a free give away for the RISR with my name attached
