I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out what height ring I need for a Viper HS 50mm objective.

I'm getting Weaver 4-hole skeleton rings and here are the 30mm ring heights:

Low: 0.250"
Medium: 0.370"
Hi: 0.490"
X-Hi: 0.610

The kicker is, I have a 50mm PST on my .308 using the same damn rings, but I can't remember for the life of me what size I bought.

The rifle I'm putting it on has a very stout barrel but I'm not sure if the High rings are enough clearance...

So here's what I'm thinking. Vortex lists the scope as 2.2" in diameter at the bell.

Which is 56mm - 30mm tube = 26mm. Half that is 13mm so I would need a .511" base height to clear a barrel that is flush with a receiver.

My DIP 0moa is slightly over .25" off the barrel measuring to the very top of the picitinny rail.

So that means I need at least 0.26181811" high rings to clear the barrel.

Or did I fuck this up somewhere?

Math checks out. Just be sure to factor in your eye relief and if that will mean that the bell flare will hit the far edge of your rail. Had that happen with an EGW base, easy fix with a little saw action though.

Math looks good though.

I use a trick I read about on here. Stack some pennys on the rail and set your scope on them, stack more/remove as necessary until the scope is where you want it. Remove scope, measure stack, order rings

Trevor,

Yeah I can always take a notch off the DIP rail. It's going for Cerakote work with the barreled action anyway.
