Dicks Sporting goods asked what nationality....

Had a couple of gift cards for For Dicks Sporting Goods here in Raleigh NC. figured I would pick up some ammo. I found the ammo I was looking for. I went to check out they asked the following questions.

1# They wanted to know what country I was from.
2# Are you a US citizen.
3# Had to provide proof I was of age and had proper ID.
4#Had to sign the credit card stand verifying all the above.

When I inquired if BATF had changed the rules or had made changes on how stores sale there ammo and where the info was being stored and who it was being released to. I was advised to contact there main office about same. Just wanted to inquire if anyone else had run into this at other sporting goods locations.

To hell with any of the companies out there that have either raised their prices or blindly following the anti gun ban crowd.. I will enjoy watching their business crumble...and if any of them try and attempt to change back to salvage their company...well fuck'em.. I have spent a lot of money at Midway USA and will continue to...yeah I know shipping can suck a little but to me it's well worth it..especially now I know where they stand.

I bought a box of winchester 230 gr. 45 ACP today at wally world and they asked for my DOB but nothing else.

I've never liked Dicks Sporting Goods to begin with. But a week ago I decided that due to their new stance on firearms that they will NEVER see a penny from my family again.

Dicks has been doing this for a while - even before the shooting. I got some ammo when I got my deal on my Rem 700's. They asked the same stupid questions and I said WTF to the checkout person. They had no clue, and I didn't push it. I won't spend any more money there except what I get with my cards like you... I called Jax as well and let them know I won't be shopping there any more, and the last two fly fishing rods and other stuff I got were going to be the last they say of my money.

If they want to make a political statement, I figure I should let them know the cost of such a statement. And at least right now, there are plenty of other shops.

I filed out one of their comment cards at the behest of a friend who works the gun counter there and said something pretty close to that effect.

I just bought 2 boxes of 7mm Remington Mag ammo 2 days before Christmas and they asked for DOB. Sounds like that store is confusing ammo with AR 15s.

I always lie to companies that ask for shit they shouldn't be. I give wrong phone numbers/zip codes/address/etc. There is actually a law on the books that says that a vendor can't refuse to sell you something if you decline to answer any non-sale related question such as the one's Dicks asked you and people on the Consumerist website sue companies for refusing sales based on that law all the time.

In Indiana, at least, there are age restrictions on purchasing ammo: 18 for rifle or shotgun; 21 for handgun (I believe the 21 for HG is Federal, but I could be mistaken).

So, providing proof of age should not get you too upset.
