...I can't find any exacting rules on what an F-class rife needs to have/be. Is there any links or threads to F class rifle builds. Just starting to do some homework and really not finding much...

Re: Call me dumb but...

You can also look at
http://usfclass.com/rules.aspx
There is plenty of info around

Super quick 101 is understand 2 classes
1. FTR
Limited to standard SAMMI chamber 308/223 + 8.25 kg limit (incl bipod + Scope)

2. OPEN
Any calibre up to 8mm, any chamber + 10kg limit (incl. Scope) Front rest is excluded from weight

We shot at 5" Inner Bull and 10" Bull

Just search F-class and you will find some really good threads on this site in a variety of topics

Apologies on info shortfall
hate typing on small phone - trying to keep it short and making mistakes in info was not my intent

Thanks to those that caught errors and corrected them
keep safe

Re: Call me dumb but...

F-TR is SAAMI chamber .223 or .308 using a bipod. The total weight is 8.25kg (18.18 pounds) INCLUDING bipod and scope (and anything else attached to the rifle/scope.)

F-Open is any caliber up to .35 caliber for a weight of 10 kilos (22 pounds) without rest. The forend must not exceed 3 inches in width.

No muzzle brakes allowed, rear rest must not be connected to front rest or bipod. Rifles are fired from the shoulder.

(1) The rifle’s overall weight, including all attachments such as sights and bipod, must not exceed 10
kilograms (approximately 22 pounds). An “attachment” also includes any external object, other that the
competitor and apparel, which recoils or partially recoils with the rifle, or which is clamped, held, or
joined in any way to the rifle for each shot, or which even slightly raises with the firing of the rifle from
the rests).

Re: Call me dumb but...

Thanks XTR. I saw the error after it was finally posted but I seem to have a lot of problem accessing this site. The refresh is awfully slow and sometimes, (ok often), (err, most of the time) the site just blocks and I can't access anything here. Then I start doing something else and I forget to try again for a long time.

Am I the only one having access issues to this site? I don't have that problem at any other site.

ETA: It took me 10 minutes to post the above message and I had to do it on another window. Very frustrating.

Re: Call me dumb but...

No problem, I've had choppy access from time to time, and a couple of days ago Firefox freaked out on it. I think Frank commented that they've had access issues when the search engine spiders hit and try to catalog the whole site, all 2.5M+ posts and bog it down.

Re: Call me dumb but...

Interesting. TRACERT shows the break to be somewhere in the sbcglobal network. I'm thinking there is an intermittent DNS issue. This is the only site that is giving me any issue.

And thanks for fixing that brainfart. I just could not edit the post for over an hour. Frustrating.

Re: Call me dumb but...

Here is the statement re: legal rifles used for F-class open, I added it as the 8mm is in error although very few would step to the line with larger than 30 calibers given no muzzle brakes allowed.

(a) F-Class Open Rifle (F-O) - A rifle restricted to a bore diameter no larger than .35 caliber. (Attention is
directed to safety fan limitations of various ranges. Individual ranges may further restrict ammunition). “Rail
guns” and positive mechanical methods of returning to the precise point of aim for the prior shot are not
permitted. Any safe, manually operated trigger is permitted. Any sighting system is permitted, but it must be
including in the rifle’s overall weight.

Re: Call me dumb but...

Whoa. I'm reading these rules fot TR and it says that we can't use .308 bullets that are heavier than 156 grains.

This is going to be a problem.

Re: Call me dumb but...

Denys, you are looking in the TR rules not the F class rules:

F2.3. An F/TR Class rifle is limited to .223 Remington or .308 Winchester calibre chambers or their commercial metrification equivalents. Chamber dimensions must conform to SAAMI or CIP dimensions. Ammunition may be commercially made or hand-loaded as defined in Rule F2.24. There is no restriction on bullet weight. The F/TR rifle class is limited to the use of an attached bipod and/or a sling as front supports, optionally together with a rear bag none of which provide a positive mechanical means of returning the rifle to its precise point of aim for the next shot . The overall weight must not exceed 8.25kg including all attachments (such as, but not limited to, its sights and bipod, if any). NB: An ‘attachment’ is defined as in Rule F2.2. All other Technical Rules apply.

Pretty much every time someone schedules a Full Bore match someone asks that question. My club started doing a few Full Bore matches two yrs ago and I had to figure this one out. We have one shooter who furious that he couldn't use his normal loads. I was really new, once someone pointed me in the right direction I figured it out, I tried to explain it to him but he was having no part of it. (oh well)
