Don't know if this is the right sub-forum. The classifieds on this site are great but with a few added features they would be awesome.

Have the ADMINS ever considered a lifetime for a post? Selected by the user on creation of the ad, not to exceed 30 days? If you wanted to be able to follow the old stuff you could have a new "archived" section. I think this would clean up a lot of the people who have been digging up REALLY OLD POSTS.

The other thing that urks me is that there is no "commit to buy" button. Whereas I can say I will pay advertised price for the item(s) listed. This would still work for people selling multiple things because they could just click the "list duplicate item" and just remove what sold. Reason I say this is because I recently tried to buy an item. I sent the PM I posted in the thread. About 30 minutes later the seller though PMed me asking for confirmation, I didn't log into snipershide until 3 hours later. Since I didn't get back on the site fast enough to "confirm" I lost out to another member. This was frustrating to say the least.

If interested you wanted to see some of the features I'm discussing, check out this link: MDS - Classifieds

I'm speaking from a buyers perspective. Great to know that's how the mods feel about their member base though. "Stay off here"

That isn't how the mods feel.

That's how the owner of this site feels.

Frank's rules, and Frank's site. The PX has always been secondary to the main site, and if you feel otherwise, go to gunbroker.

If you want community, stay here then.

    Re: Improvements to the Classifieds

"I'll take it" is usually as good as a "commit to buy" button. If you miss an item by a few seconds, better luck next time. The owner sees the classifieds here as more of a headache than anything else so take it how it is. Plenty of good deals to be had, just find them when you can.

I didn't know about this site until I was doing some googling and it brought me to the classifieds. I haven't branched out much further but am enjoying it. The reasoning behind my post was just to make some suggestions. A simple "not gonna happen" is good enough for me. I don't have to be welcomed but being told to leave isn't good for anyone. I have given about 2500$(which isn't a gargantuan amount) to hide members in exchange for goods since discovering the classifieds.

Many came here for reasons only the minority can understand, and money will not buy ability.
This site is not about, selling or buying. The buy/sell is but a distraction most of the time.

What part of, this is not a for sale site don't you understand.

How much of your $2500 went to the site to maintain the classifieds, I'll tell you, none.

The site does not charge it's contributing members to use this feature. That is why we say contributing member, that is why the FS section has more rules then the regular section. If you can't understand the purpose behind the site, you're using it wrong.

I have absolutely no interest in "improving" the classifieds, unless you and your fellow buyers want to contribute a minimum of $10,000 for the improvements to be considered.

If you knew the headaches associated to this section alone, you'd change your tune.

Roger that. Thanks for the heads up.
