Yeah, I can't understand why the other 5 women don't join in here to look at the 10 or so pics for women and enjoy the hundred others that are no different than the motivational pic thread.

And yes Maggot, your man-card has been suspended.

No offense, Luna, but Im sick of hearing stuff like this. Doesnt that assume that one "asked" to be here, which we didnt. I dont owe the world (or any god or gods)a damn thing. I only do what I have to because I have to do it to get bye, or because I enjoy doing it. I dont owe anyone but the bank, anything, and I owe them because I asked for the loan and agreed to pay it.

Again, no offense ntended, just a philosophical examination, and none the less a good way to point the kds. Just dont tell them they owe anything. They should do things not because they owe anyone but because they see one way as better than another and they freely choose it.

I know this is the Ladies Motivational Pic thread... Perhaps the non-picture-posts tend to be more philosophical here vs "bar talk" over on the 'other' Mot-Pic-Thread.

So, in that light, I will respond to you, maggot.

If someone thinks they don't owe society anything, that their primary purpose is just to get by and do what they want, then they should Leave that society. They are a self-proclaimed, self-entitled, self-absorbed Burden on everyone else simply due to laziness.

IF, however, that person actually contributes to the betterment of that society, maybe as simply as following the laws and not hurting others, paying reasonable taxes, help an old lady cross a street, hold a door open for someone just because, give a stray dog some food, a bath, a home... THEN they should stay, feel welcome, spend their "free time" as they wish.

I think you contribute more than you give yourself credit for, maggot. Those words for teens wasn't aimed at starting another AmeriCorp; they're just to point out that society doesn't owe them a free ride. If they want to enjoy relative low crime, clean streets, an economy that still supports amusement parks and video game stores, restaurants, national parks, etc, then they must contribute Something. That's what being a "Productive member of society" means.

Think of the 'Hide as a society. How long would it last if no one ever contributed any helpful posts? How do you feel about those new members who just rack-up posts to hit 100 to scam a few quick bucks? How do you feel about those who post just to complain and attack? Now what about the ones who start threads to help others, contribute valuable experience and good advice, post motivational pics... Even those who "lurk" for years even, just to make one worthwhile post when they have something helpful to share...

If the net-value of contribution is negative, then that person is a leech, a burden. Either the society deems it an acceptable burden, or it deems it too much and works to remove it. If the net-value of contribution is positive, then congrats, you're a productive member of society. Now, challenge yourself to do more when you can, and enjoy the freedom you've earned.

And now, pictures...

Re: Ladies motivational thread

^^^^^^Snake, well said. I dont disagree. My only clarification would be to please notice that I said thay we should "freely choose" rather than feel that its "owed." Regarding Ms. Hepburn's quote, Im neither an atheist, a believer, nor an agnostic. There may or may not be some form of diety, or uber intelligence...Call it what you will. Its unimportant (to me). What is important to me, is how I act, both towards both myself, and others. As she said. with kindness...but if that kindness and compassion comes from a sense of debt then it isnt genuine. If it comes from the recognition that we are all basically alike, and is offered freely, then its real.

I happen to agree quite strongly with the judge Luna. Not quite sure where Maggot is coming from. But perhaps believing in something more and bigger than yourself could tend to be quite an asset to society.

Good goes around!!!!!

Re: Ladies motivational thread

Maggot, if you crawled your ass out of the womb and instantly became self-sufficient then you don't owe anyone anything. I'm guessing that is not the case. Everyone is in debt to someone. Whether or not you want to recognize that debt is dictated by your ideology. You don't have to call it a debt, but that doesn't change the fact that it is. I'm guessing you do good for others that have done good for you because it is the right thing to do? While you may not feel that you owe them anything, you reciprocate acts of kindness in return for acts of kindness. In a simplistic form it is no different from paying debt. The only real difference between "doing what is right" and the "debt" ideology is simply whether or not you expect others to pay off their debt to you.

Damn near impossible to get a good photo of her, she seems to know when you're taking a picture and looks away at the very last moment.

So does someone OWE their mother something just because they came out her womb. I say no. You only OWE for what you ask for. So here it is...I I give you a gift, thats what it is, a gift, and no debt incurred. I dont expecct anything from you, not even thanks. If, you freely choose to give me thanks, or return something in like kind, great, but I dont expect it. I dont give gifts with srings attached...thats calle a sale, and if I make a sale thats different than a gift. Yes, I give a lot...Last year alone I gave in excell of 8K to the Red Cross and Doctors w/o Borders. Why? 2 reasons, actually, one because I know that every action has an equal and opposite reaction/ You reap as you sow...and I like good things comeing to me...but I dont ever put anyone in debt...the gift is free. Secondly, I give just because I would want somone to do tht for me if I was in bad shape; I caan put myself in their place...but again, no debt incurred. I realize the difference is subtle and may escape many but a difference there is. Im not into oweing anyone anything...I give because I CHOOSE to.

You don't think you asked to be fed, changed, or put to bed as a wee tot? By no means do I disagree with your outlook, but I've always been sort of a pessimist when it comes to a debate on altruism. I'm mostly just arguing semantics, so don't take anything to heart

This statement indicates that you recognize the likelihood of seeing a return on your investment/donation. Whether it be good fortune, karma, financial gain, or simply satisfaction in helping others, you realize that there will be some sort of benefit that finds its way to you. In the most simplistic form the process is no different than a bank loan. The difference is that you don't mind if someone files for bankruptcy..... I'm not faulting your intentions. I just like playing with words and human behavior

Same here. My whole point is simply that even if I receive a return, the causitive action is given by my free choice, not out of any sens of obligation.

Re: Ladies motivational thread

again nothing i post is meant to piss any one off however i do believe strongly in many things. this post was mainly aimed at the up an coming generation, yes not all are bad and some people raise good kids, i have 2 of my own i think are great i was blessed to have such great kids. one is 20 and one is 18 and they are already on there own and have jobs and there own place to live. both are working to go to college. i also have several in-laws that are 20-22 that live off there grandpa and wont keep a job because its "to hard" they milk him for what ever money they can get. he has even bought them a car and a $10k motorcycle. now what he does with his money is his business, but he is doing them no favors because when he's gone they will have a nice slap in the face as to how hard life really is. most (not all) my daughters friends are completely worthless, and it scares me that they might get my kids in to bad habits and drag them down with them. i would say %90 of the kids i meet through my daughters are lazy worthless bums that believe they are entitled to some free hand out.
i don't care that you do just what you do to get by, are you living off some one else's money? if you have your own job and feed your self this wasn't aimed at you in the first place. it was aimed at people that expect ME to pay tax dollars to support there lazy ass.
