Anyone used the stainless cases for the Lhati from anzio rifles , have looked for more info but came up blank , would like to try a .50 bmg , not sure how hard fl sizing would be , last I read about turned cases was that it was only suitable for straight walled cases ? Any one got more info on stainless cases ?

Re: stainless steel cases

I'm curious, why you would want to use stainless in place of brass?

Re: stainless steel cases

Simply to try something new , and see if they can be made to better tolerance's than brass , and if it would work for rare or obsolete cartridges

Re: stainless steel cases

There's a very distinct advantage to having a brass cartridge casing. That piece is the pressure relief valve in the system in the event of an over pressure. The brass yields and bleeds pressure long before the rifle is compromised and the shooter is significantly less in danger.

If you want better produced cases then having brass ones cut for you is a potential but I purposely avoid steel or anything along that strength capability for new design work because of the safety aspect.

Re: stainless steel cases

I would normally agree with you , just seeing them advertised for 20mm on the anzio web site got me thinking if there had been some new developments using stainless , I've seen large cals with steel cases but not stainless and just wondered if it could work for smaller cases

Re: stainless steel cases

I gotcha. The big stuff is already loaded with steel cases, I can't imagine it's that big of a deal to switch to the right stainless and for a guy reloading something like a 20 Lahti or Solothurn having excellent brass longevity is a big deal.
