I got a AXCS Chassis from Europtic for a R700 SA in FDE, whom I must say had excellent customer service. My question is what do I need to get to install it? Do i need a torque wrench? can you make any recommendations as far as torque wrenches and drivers? I have also been told that I need to get High rings as well for my NF NXS 3.5-15 to clear the rail section on the foreend. Discuss!

Re: AX chassis install help?

Can't say for AX, I have AICS. Supposed to torque action screws to 60 in-lbs, 5-10 rounds and re torque to 65. Wheeler Fat Wrench has worked well for me. Also handy for rings and bases. Can't speak about ring height. Probably depends on obj. Dia.

Borka Tools. I think it's the MG-9 set or whatever. It has everything you need for a torque wrench set and it comes with an AICS bit

Re: AX chassis install help?

I love the thing it's small, light, and portable. torque values from 15 to 65 inch pounds.

Re: AX chassis install help?

My custom AICS 3/16" hex 3.5" long bit will not work for AX with skinns attached, as AI reduced the diameter of access hole in the triggerguard area. It does work real well with "legacy" AICS stocks.

MG9 and MG7 have the same components in both kits, but MG9 kit comes in steel case (bench model), while MG7 is packaged in a soft pouch from TAB GEAR (field model).

Re: AX chassis install help?

I'm using the Larue LT111 scope mount with my AX chassis and 20 MOA rail and my Nightforce F1 has no clearance issues with the rail. I even added the 20 MOA front forearm rail with no problems.

The LT111 is 1.535 inches above the rail iirc.

Re: AX chassis install help?

Does AI make the 20 moa forend rail? How is the alignment with your scope base? I have a 338 build on AX chassis in the works, and I'm interested in putting a forend rail on.

Re: AX chassis install help?

Yes AI makes them. I got my rail at http://www.eurooptic.com

They are 2 piece rails (Action and Forend) and are continuous like the AX

Since mine is built on a stiller action, I couldn't use the action rail so mine has a small gap between the 2 rails.

Re: AX chassis install help?

I too would like to know what height NF rings to run???
( same as above AX /3-15 50mm nsx)

Re: AX chassis install help?

Fyi

I have a GAP crusader barreled action in the AX chassis, badger high rings and an F1. The scope is sooo close to the handguardI cant fit the bikini or butler creek caps.

We need to beg Chad Dixon to build us some top AX actions for the custom actions.

That is a work of art. Everything about that build makes me want to call Chad and get a build started!
