I recently had reason to seek service on my SS 10x42HD, and SWFA told me to contact Bushnell. I have searched as best as I can on this site and on the www, and I have not found a single post in which anyone mentions the fact that Bushnell honors the lifetime warranty on any of SWFA's scopes.
Anyone had experience with this?

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

I had a 6x that would not track and I sent it in. it was replaced with a new scope. What is it you're trying to receive service for?

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

I purchased a 10X42M SS scope from SWFA. The turret knobs were extremely stiff. Since Bushnell/Tasco has offices about 1 mile from where I live, I stopped in to their facility. The Techs were extrememly helpful. They asked if I could hang around for a few minutes while they checked it out. So we walked across the hall and checked out their outlet store. About a half hour later we wandered back to the repair counter. The Tech had completely checked out, disassembled, recalibrated, and made the turrets operate smooth as glass. WOW, I couldn't asked for better service, they treated me like a KING. Hats off to Bushnell/Tasco for outstanding customer care.

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

I recently picked up a used 1st generation SS 10x42HD and I am unable to focus the reticle, and the optical image is not focused either. The non HD 10x42M that I just sold was way clearer than this one. I expected to see an improvement going to the HD, and all I can say is that I am disappointed, which is why I'm sending it in for service since there must be some problem going on with it.

Very interesting. Have also liked Bushnell products also and they seem to be moving toward more innovative quality products. Hope this kind of customer service continues. Have SWFA 20X fixed scope, but have not had any issues. Nice to know I'll be taken care if problems do show up.

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

You bought used from where, win308?

Sounds like you now know why the seller sold it? That's one place I'd contact too.

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

Bought from a Hide member who already offered to take it back, but I would rather keep it if Bushnell fixes it under warranty. Granted, I can't speculate why he wanted to sell it, but I wouldn't want it in its present condition either. That's why a lifetime warranty is a nice thing, and I'd wonder why someone wouldn't want to check that route out before letting it go. The seller said he used it without problem fairly recently which I suppose could have been done as it is now, but it hurt my eye trying to focus on an object through it. I know what the optical image through my old regular 10x42M was like as a baseline to what it ought to be like. It was well packed, and no evidence of shipping damage.

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

Bushnell received my scope today. Per their web site, they should log it in and notify me within the next 6 days, and a tech should check it out and contact me shortly after that. I'd be tickled pink if they sent me a brand new scope, but I'll be happy just to have it returned repaired.

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

After 2 weeks I called Bushnell and they said that my repair still had not been logged in. After another week they said that I should call back and they will search for it. If they can't find it they will send me a new scope no questions asked.

Win308 -

I had a new SS 10x42 that I had to send in for service. Top turret flew off after just a couple rounds down range. It took Bushnell a couple weeks to get it logged and fully inspected. End result was a new scope. It took 3-4 weeks total if I remember correctly.

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

The reason that I started this post in the first place was my suprise that SWFA told me to send my scope in for repair to Bushnell. After waiting a week for shipping and 3 weeks for Bushnell to log in and check out my scope, I found that they returned it to me because they don't work on SWFA scopes. I called SWFA and they told me that whoever instructed me to send it to Bushnell was wrong and I should send it to SWFA for service when I get it back. Talk about a run around....

That's odd to say the least. Nothing against SWFA, as I have had some of their stuff, but this made the Vortex VIP pretty appealing (hope I don't eat those words when I finally order a Viper).

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

Well, I didn't note the asshat's name at SWFA who gave me the misinformation, and I can't blame the company, but the reason that I started this thread was that it made no sense to me to send it to Bushnell in the first place. I have been pleased with their products and CS in the past, so I'll just wait a little more to see what they can do for me now. My scope is routed from Bushnell directly to SWFA, so I should find out soon enough what the problem with my scope is.

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

Good to see you're keeping cool about the whole ordeal - I'd be really frustrated.

Good luck with the end result!

Re: Service on SWFA 10x42HD

The 10x42M are Bushnell. The HD are SWFA. SWFA took over the sales of the M from Bushnell and their HD line grew from there.

Glad you got it solved and kept your cool. Good service tho from SWFA (except the misinformation about where to send it)
