I've got a Savage action & aftermarket stainless barrel that I gave a flat black Krylon treatment to.

I'm likely going to remove the barrel to send it off to be cut 4-6" and assume my hard work with the rattlecan will be damaged by the work. When it comes back, I'll likely want to put a fresh coating on it. As such, could I buy one of those little blasters from Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight and use some sand (or other media) to blast the barreled action prior to recoating?

Something like this:

I've used 320 auto sandpaper wet/dry to smooth out prior to painting and finishing w/ matte clear coat.

I,ve used my buddys sandblasting cabinet to blast several actions and barrels, I believe I used an alluminum oxide media.

I have that exact same sandblaster. I build a makeshift cabinet and use aluminum oxide media. It isn't very fast, but has gotten the job done for me on 3 guns so far. I would use some chemical to strip the krylon, then clean the parts really well with acetone before blasting. You will also want to keep your air dry or the media won't feed very well.
