HORNADY Z-MAX Projectiles.....

So, what's the real story on these bullets from Hornady? It's their green-tip "Zombie" edition. I ask because my local shop is selling these Z-Max bullets in all the right sizes for 55.00 dollars per 500. I'm gonna stock up if these are just green tipped AMAX's!!

Wonder why they are soooo cheap? I was thinking it must be something to do with the jacket plating process?? I'm gonna load up for sure if their just Amax's!

They are not Amax, but Vmax.

Amax and Vmax are slightly different profile bullets. There is no "plating" process on either jacket. Jackets are drawn, lead core inserted, ogive formed and green tip/red tip pressed in.

Buy what you can at $55 thats a good deal right now.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

$55 per 500 is about $20 below prepanic prices at the big box stores. They make them in 40grs too, IIRC.

$11 per 100 is roughly what the 55gr FMJ/BTs were going for in that increment.

Gents, I didn't get off work till 6. I hustled to the store, only to find teh shelf 1/4 as full as before, maybe 10 total boxes of ZMAX's left. Only .17 caliber, .20, and 6mm.
