Sure this gets asked alot but my google-fu is failing me.

Will 155 scenars or bergers perform well out of a 1-10 twist 20" gasser? I am figuring yes since the scenars are longer than the 175 smks...?

Or should stick with 175s?

thanks

They shoot pretty well out of my Savage if you can get them up above 2900 fps.

The 155 scenar shoots fabulous from my 26" CBI 10-twist Savage.

Lapua brass
47.5gr Varget
Tula LR primer
2.850" COAL
2975fps, 8fps ES for 5 rounds, 2fps SD (Magnetospeed)

It depends. If the question is whether a 10-twist will stabilize the 155s, the answer is yes. If your question is whether precision gas guns, in general, shoot well with lighter bullets, the answer is yes. But the real answer is not dependent on a choice between those two bullets.

... and for your purposes I wouldn't go with Varget.

I'm having great luck with the 155's in my GAP10, using hornady match brass, h4895 (43.5gr) and fed LR match primers. My barrel is a 11.25 twist.

there a certain velocity these perform best at? 2900 as stated?

Anyone have data if velocities out of a 20 inch from quickload or experience?

Hmmm too bad About varget, I have that on the shelf. Maybe I should find some 8208 or 4064?

THanks all

A 20" barrel will make it tough to get the 155s up around that 2900 fps level that I speak of.

Maybe a heavier bullet is in order?

Scenars do like to go fast, but I shoot them from an 18" tight-bore barrel at 2740 and they shoot very well. In a large gas gun I would stick with the (faster) proven gas-gun powders like 4895.
