Is there a law, rule, or opinion on how small of a photocopy of approved NFA form 4 that a person should have available for inspection if request by person with authority to do so?

It would be my guess its about like a lot of things with the ATF. There's no set standard and if it is its probably not published. I would at least have one wallet size big enough for someone to easily read. That's just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.
I saw a letter a few years ago that said 50% was the smallest. There is nothing official out there on it.
Sheeite...I printed color copies at 6 per page....I can read it and so should the average person. If they cant...well then I can give them full size copies from home. If there is no established standard--and I have not seen one--then we could "what if it" to death. Yes, I know, don't mess around when it come to your NFA toys...but be respectful, offer to read it if checked, and go from there.

I went to Office Depot and they reduced to 60% on both sides of orginal. They made them so everything lines up perfectly and then laminated front and back together so I have a card that shows both sides. It is easily legible on both sides. I had them make 8 cards.

I'd go a small as you can while having it be legible. Chances are no one will ever need to see it anyways.
So what is the reason for reduction? i make full size color copies, front and back on quality paper, and just fold the damn thing up. i don't understand the reasoning or want to for a size reduction. one goes in my stock pack, one in my hunting pack, i can have as many as i need. even in a bag, as long as its not being folded and unfolded constantly, the quality of the print stays legible for a LONG time. even if i did ruin one, well then it can be replaced with another copy. im an engineer so we have access to high end printers here, it helps that i dont pay for the copies.

You can have that attitude, but when you consider that many law enforcement don't really know what they are looking at, if you reduce it down too small, they might detain you until they can properly investigate it with a phone call to the ATF. Now if its the weekend that might be a problem.
I've never personally had any issues with law enforcement requesting my form 4, all I ever get are comments like "oh wow, that's cool, can i shoot it?". I wouldn't worry too much, just as long as it's legible and you're respectful if confronted by a LEO.
A lot of this is going to depend on where you live. Here in rural Texas, the only inquiries I've gotten were where I got the Big Sky ceiling-mounted rifle rack in my truck, with not a word about the suppressed AR15 that was in it. Most LE down here are only going to hassle you if they really think you are a problem somehow, not approach a normal citizen with the "Papers, please!" attitude that you will encounter elsewhere. I've got 1/4 size spiral bound booklet copies of my trust in every vehicle and a copy saved on my phone. They're small, but legible. However, it's private/tax paperwork - show it if you need to in order to stay out of jail, but there SHOULD be a bit of resistance. You get stopped for speeding (breaking the law,) THEN they ask for papers....you shouldn't get hassled for just shooting and have to PROVE that you haven't committed crimes unless they have a darn good reason to make you prove you are legit. Don't act stupid with NFA stuff and they SHOULD leave you alone.

is there anything stating that you have to have DOUBLE sided copies or is the front (important side anyways) enough?

I uploaded my papers to Google Drive, and can download them where ever i am. [in case i forget them].
You probably should have a two sided copy, even the info on the back is also important.
Slightly off topci but hopefully useful...I aslo used a PDF scanning app on my phone. Obviously it's "small" but you can email/print or whatever, and you can zoom in on any part of the form and read the fine print.
