Last night my friend and I shot for the second time at 1715 yards. We had to laser it in two parts so it's really close. We wanted to get to a mile, but ran out of daylight. Target was 30x30 steel plate. I had a first round hit (top left corner). 2nd round top right, then dialed down and put them close to center. I still can't believe the capability of these rifles!! It sure is addicting. He had one hit in the orange circle bottom left, and bottom left of target. Other rounds are mine. The last 5 rounds I fired with a minute or two in between to let him shoot are marked. Group was right around 12" for 5 rounds. I can't wait to do this again!! :)

Berger 300 hybrids, 92.0 H1000 Rifle built by Jamie Dodson at Wolf Precision

My rifle is the bottom one in the picture.

Sweet! What's your reloading prep like for this? Do you measure each powder load, check concentricity, turn necks, etc.?

Also, where are some good places to shoot long range in PA? There isn't anything close by where I am in NY (farthest is maybe 300yd) so I have to travel. I would like to shoot 600-1000yd with my GAP 308 bolt rifle.

That's awesome shooting at nearly a mile. I run the 300's with 91gr of H-1000 out of a 26-inch barrel and average 2710fps. You must be right around 2750-2760fps? What was your elv. and come-up's at that range?

Defiance LH action
Bartlein 1-9.75 twist finished at 28" with Badger FTE Brake\
Timney trigger ..I'll throw up a pic of the rifle

Not sure what reamer Jamie used.

To bad it wasn't an actual mile or you'd be cool:D
All kidding aside, i look forward to the rifle pic. I'm having one built on an XLR chassis with a TAC338 action. Big ass bartlein 9.5 5r. I'm going 30"and APA fat bastard. Smith will be using a 338 tacmatch reamer

Rifle is included in original post. I know..we were kinda mad we didn't get a mile exactly..there's always next time :) Anyways, mine is the 5r barrel too and now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it was the tacmatch reamer also.

16.3 mils from a 100 yard zero. I made a chart last year on here from that thread using I believe the G7 coefficient..it's been within a click or two the whole way out so far. MV is around 2800.

Congratulations on some awesome shooting and a great looking stick. I look forward to your one mile group.

Hahaha I forgot about that...those were the fun days. I haven't been up there for probably two years now. Round count is just under 1050..I'd have to check my book for the exact count, but it's near that.

Great shooting! I just stretched mine out to 1760 but I'm only pushing the 300gr Bergers 2625 with 89gr of Retumbo in a 28" tube. Elev was 19.2 from 100.

Did you try both Retumbo and H1000 in your load workup?
What's your COAL or base to ogive ?

I'd LOVE to get that bullet going 2800.

Might, might be asking a little too much, but mid-upper 2700's should be obtainable once you approach max. You should be able to work up to 92+gr no problem. Should get you pretty dang close.

I've gone to 104 grains of Retumbo in my 338 Lapua Improved so I think over 89 a bit is perfectly safe...just look for pressure signs.
