hello to all and please excuse my attempt at trying to make a professional looking range report, but here goes.

I have been looking at BOP for a while , formerly UGSW and have been intrigued with their rifles for quite some time as well as hearing good things. So back in August 2012 I bit the bullet and ordered my RECON.

First : customer service the starting point, they were great to deal with and went over all options that I wanted. Mine has a 20" barrel (5/8x24 threads and cap)with a Manners T-2a stock, Badger USMC rings and a S+B PMII 4-16x50 scope. I was notified periodically through out the process (ie was emailed when the receiver was made, when it was ready for color..etc) and in the first week of December 2012 it was ready. Just to note I also purchased the scope and rings from BOP and all was mounted and fit into a storm case and sent to my dealer.

Second: Rifle in hand, the fit and finish is among the best I have seen (not knocking any other makers, but this one really got my attention). At first I was almost shocked because when I looked at the flush cups, usually you see a bit of difference in the hardware to stock fit, I saw nothing, the first thing I though was "GREAT" they forgot to install them....nope the are there and as in the name, just really flush, everything is
fit to exacting standards.

Trigger: the slight machining on the shoe, weather it is done by them already or they machine it, just marries to my finger nicely, with a good clean break
Action:.......silk...nuff said
Balance: with the Manners stock and 20" barrel is well balanced for me

as for the rest of the description/s like action, bottom metal, bolt handle etc is all the "standard" for the recon model but to also note on the bottom metal, it is SOLIDD and a nice touch for the mag release that will not snag on anything.

even the eye relief on the mounted scope was right where it needed to be

Range time: although due to my work I was unable to get out right away to shoot it, first thing was to zero and perform what I do for a barrel break-in (to much controversy with that, but I do what I do and will keep it classified, but I follow whats on Bartleins website). and it should be noted that the rifle was zeroed already to within 1/2" of my zero at 100yards.

for most of my load development I am using Lapua brass with 43.2 grains of Varget pushing a 168 SMK at an avg of 2600 fps , and also tried some berger hybrid 168's as well as FGMM. for shooting groups I used a hart rest and also my harris 6-9 bipod throughout

on the first set of targets, the left 5 round group was fired over 5 range sessions as a cold clean bore shot. the second target is the best 5 round group (there are more like this size wise but 1 target is enough)

the last pic is 26 rounds fired at a semi rapid rate to get the barrel heated a bit (all 26 rounds were fired in about 20 mins) the first 2 targets are 5 round groups and the last is a 16 round group, it would have been 15 but I pulled a shot left (dammit). in that 15 (16) round group, there are different loads of sierra and berger 168's and a couple 175 smk's in that mix)

so all in all this is one hell of a rifle and I will say the first from BOP for me, and for LE this rifle should give you the confidence in knowing that its solid as a tank to make the important shot.

and for the mix of ammo that I have used during my several range sessions, they all shot where they needed to

so if there any of you guys "on the fence"....just get one ;)

and for the second to last target the #4 is for target #4 not 4 rounds, theres 5 in there all right
the grid squares are 1/4" for reference

Dang.
Not only is that some good shooting, but that is one heck of an accurate stick.

Problem with a rifle that accurate is that if the shooting is bad, you only have yourself to blame :)

Congrats on a fine rifle.

My Infidel is getting lonely.
The Recon would be an awesome sibling to add...

I love the looks of that, and some dang good shooting to boot. What is that barrel contour comparable too?

that's outstanding. looks sharp too, congrats!

this cracked me up:
"(to much controversy with that, but I do what I do and will keep it classified, but I follow whats on Bartleins website)."

just wanted to give an update on my recon , I did a bit at the 200yrd line so wanted to post some targets , as well as a couple pics of the fit and finish

the first tgt is 4 rds the second is 3 rds , I only had 7 handloads left before I went to fgmm. the rest of the pics are of the fit n finish

also to note , this was done with my new atacr, from the previous s+b

This gun is badass! I bet I have pulled this thread up every other day since you posted it.

it sure make me look like a better shooter...haha , I just think the ergonomics make for a comfortable shooting platform for my shooting.

I don't normally keep my 200 yard groups as consistent , but the weather was perfect load developing weather

They most definitely pay attention to detail in their builds. This is a great looking rifle and obviously will perform when driven correctly.
