So this is the original thread from The Hide (necro-thread warning):

And this is the thread from Guardian of Valor Website:

Can you believe this tool actually got those tattoos?!

I don't understand why everyone feels the need to be "spec ops," I can garuantee you that every SF guy thinks the cook is pretty important when he's hungry, the mechanic is important when his vehicles don't work, the finance people are important when your per diem gets jacked up, every job is important and has it's place...

I had a similar problem with one the HM's I had been stationed with in the Marines. When I met him he had recon dive/jump pins, 4 purple hearts and numerous other awards but he could not seem to make rank. He was scheduled to retire and Marine Corps Times was going to do a story on this retiring "warrior" so the Sgt.Maj. asked me to go through his record and get some information for the article. Nothing in his service record matched up and none of the awards had been documented. He went from 20 ribbons and 5 pins down to 5 ribbons and one pin on the day of retirement. We called the Marine Corps Times and told them the dates had been changed for the ceremony and that we would call them back and we just left it at that. Unfortunately the Corps decided to let him retire instead of frying his ass. Even after he retired and started working at Home Depot, one of my corpsman talked to him and he told my HM that he was being recalled to active duty to lead a sniper team into a specific area of Afghanistan that only he had direct knowledge of....As the law was passed that claiming military honors is not illegal I am sure this type of problem will continue

This sums it up.

I was pretty much sold on his sweet ass full auto MP5 he 'smuggled' into the country. Why didn't you guys let him get 100 posts so he could list it on the WTS section like someone back in the original thread wanted? I would have bid on it dammit!

You guys dont know what you are talking about. He was in my Shuttle Door Gunner squad in my Airforce recon marine seal team 69 ranger squad.

You realize that thread is from 2010 and it was clear he was full of shit then?

Yes, I think the point is that the piece of shit is still doing it. Trying to spew his garbage out to anyone he can. To anyone that hasn't figured it out, the ones that "brag" the most are the ones most full of shit. I have never served, but know a few that have and the ones that talk the most were not even in the country, but in some supply depot just outside the "theater".

As the story goes: Only about 500 Navy SEALS served in Viet Nam, I've met all 3000 of them.

Even if he earned them, getting a tat of medals makes him a real douche... Not to mention he didnt even earn them.

Nothing, NOTHING is worse than this fat bastard in a youtube video I saw a while back of said fat bastard dressing up in blues or some kind of dress and all kinds of medals, cooking up stories, then while getting ready, talking about how he liked to take advantage of gullible people post 9/11 and talked about all the expensive food and drink he got other people to buy for him with stories. Not only stolen valor, but a con man. And he got away with it. I can't help but think the Supreme Court had to see this video during the hearing. I do think, however, he was outed by some crafty folks on the net and had to move.

I got issued a couple of medals, my 3 year service ribbon and rank that never made it into my file. I got pinned the damn medal by the Bde. CSM in front of my commander, along with two certificates and a big ass trophy and a coin! But the command changed, I was working at the SDM school up to the end after that, and I never showed up at the unit anymore, so I guess they thought I was out or in another unit or something, I don't know. I was "attached" to another unit. Anyway, nothing ever got done, so when I got out, I didn't get all my shit. I tried to correct it, but it couldn't be done ETS date vs. army time to unfuck a paperwork problem; even had the school chief call and he couldn't get anything done.

But I don't run around wearing my uniform or anything. And I sure as hell am not going back to active duty. I can't! I did volunteer to be an SDM instructor when they asked for civilians at Ft. Benning, back when I thought I could still do it (bad back) and me, one of the original SDM instructors, couldn't get called back. Go figure. All I have are stories of the past. I just have to deal with that. I have more bad back days now than good it seems. I got to do a few cool things other folks didn't get to, had fun, hell, that was worth more than any damn rank or medal. Working at that school with who I did, real heroes at that time already, getting to know the SF gunsmith, messing around in that shop, all that shit was cool and none of it is on any record.

But no shit, I've been accused of lying and some kind of bullshit "stolen valor" claim at another website I won't mention, but a popular, civil, civilian shooting forum. It pissed me off so I left. They claimed I either wasn't infantry, an SDM or an SDM instructor. I forget what exactly. And that I couldn't have done all the stuff I said I did, dressed the way I said I did (we wore black shirts with our logo on it) etc. They wanted DD214's, proof of the school and other shit, all regarding things I had mentioned in posts there in order to stay. I sent them a redacted 214 and my SDM certificate and something else, oh, my infantry school cert. dated just after 9/11 (he didn't like my "where were you on 9/11" story). I didn't like being called a liar, but I should have told them to fuck off then. Then they wanted more, and I did tell 'em to fuck off. I'm done proving shit to other people now. I may send in a redacted 214 for a discount or whatever, or show my ID for something, but that's about it regarding service unless the VA needs something.

I'm disgusted by this! I know its old, but I went to the same high school as this douche nozzle. I don't know him as I graduated a long time before he was there. Just bad...

This stuff is ubiquitous it seems. I have talked with plenty of the spec forces vietnam era Colonels that are panhandling on the offramps. Pretty much every time I hear "special forces" in the first two sentences I turn off my brain and just smile and nod. Had one of the volunteer instructors at a recent track day notice my boonie and started talking me up how he was a former marine sniper, spec forces, made gunny in 6 years, went to ranger school, 6 confirmed kills from 6 insertions - all solo ops super hush hush during Gulf V1, all with M82. During some range session test for sniper school he shot the middle out of a nickel that was taped dead center of target with the M82 at 750 yds no scope (didn't mention irons). Then he got medically discharged after another instructor at MCMAP blew out his knee during a demo because they were pissed off at each other. He told me all of this after he asked me what I did - I told him I'm in the Navy as an engineer. I sit at a desk and write emails, make phonecalls, and look at design drawings all day. Can't get more REMF than that. Don't even wear a uniform, so you don't have to do much more than spit to outdo my military coolness factor (my new term for what I think these guys are going for).

I'm as much a fanboy of all the hardcore dudes out at the pointy end of the spear as anyone, but I just don't understand the draw in pretending to be one if you are not. Turns out that some people have different skill sets than others, and some people are just more tough than others. My skill set and toughness does not coincide with being one of those high speed guys - boo hoo, move on and do something else. Who wants to waste all of their time lying?

I liked the part where he said he had his drag shipped to ft knox tennessee. that must have been before Ft knox was moved to Kentucky

Around the Fayetteville area this shit is rampant. Especially in EMS locally. In the 2.5 years since I left IT and went into EMS I've personally met three EMT ass-clowns who were SF/SFOD/Super Secret Sniper/etc. but who claimed their info wasn't on their 214 because it was classified. All three WERE in the Army, but their stories were so wild not even civies bought it. One of them said to a Princeton Police Officer when talking about shooting .308 bolt guns "Yeah ... I'm good for two miles or so." I wanted to say "With what? A Bradley?" but I just shook my head and walked away. Everyone knows his BS deal, so it wasn't worth it.

I was a dumb Cold War Low Speed Mech Grunt ... and I am very proud that I served, even if I wasn't SF/Ranger/Airborne or even a very good soldier sometimes outside of the field. I would be just as proud if I had been a M1A1 refueler or generator mechanic. If you stepped up, that is enough. Not everyone can or will.

No telling when it moved! However, there has always been a little contention regarding Ft. Campbell KY, as the majority of Fort Campbell's property is in Tennessee. It all goes back to where the Front gate was to go, and the lady the Army purchased/obtained property from. In any event, it too is still in the same place it's always been!

Yea, I went to basic training at ft knox, and it was in Kentucky back then. Still remember missery and agony like it was yesterday

HAH! +1 on this. I proudly tell people I spent my time in the Corps counting bullets (at one point, literally), making sure people didn't lose Humvees (it happened), and fixing computers. Every now and then, I got to shoot a gun and crawl through the woods. That's about as tactical as I need to be.

I mean, technically I did GO to Sniper School. I used to go over there all the time to get the OIC to sign paperwork.
