I cant seem to find my answer so i decided to ask:) im on process of building 6mm creedmoor and just spoke with LRinc asking about reamers option.this is for mag fed build..i narrowed my choices on bullet and i decided to go with either 105hybrid or 115vld..since i have the more agressive twist 7.5 that can handle up to 115.. LR has two reamer one is intended for light 105 to 107 shorter throat one is for 115vld.. i got a HV barrel strictly for target.. should i choose reamer to run 105 hybrid with higher BC (0.547) or havier 115 with lower BC(0.545) ill try to shoot this rifle as far as can go.with 25-27" barrel..
Which bullet will fly better on farther distance? The havier or the higher BC?

I'd shoot both and see which is more accurate. If one doesn't shoot well in you're setup, the BC or weight isn't going to help much.

I'd go 105s as the they are easier to find than DTACs (assuming that's the 115 you want to run) at this point. Plus you won't loose much to the 115 vs the 105 or at least not a huge difference.

What are your plans for this rifle and how far are the shots normally going to be?The 115's dont have much on the 105's till you get waaaaay out there.

When we say way out there, are we talking 1k yard coz i would love to get there:) or even farther if its posible

Vld also comes with 115 target.. GRAFS has them in stock

Here's the deal with BC vs weight as you asked.

BC is pretty much two factors. Bullet form and weight. So weight makes up part of your BC. The other factor is form. The shape of the bullet and how it flies through the air. Think of it like a rock vs. an arrow. You can do pretty good with the perfect weight rock. But the arrow will always fly farther.

The 105 will get you more velocity.

If we were to go strictly by your numbers go with the 105. More velocity and more BC.

Added: I just looked this up in my Berger book and they show the G7 advantage to the 115 VLD by one point.

My take on it so far trying to shoot both through a 6mm Ackley is the 105's higher BC and better velocity were getting to 1k better than the 115's. A friend of mine down in Nevada was having better luck out to 1 mile with the 115 DTAC's. I would assume the same with the 115 VLD's, past 1k the 115's will be better at some point. Out to 1k, so far the 105's have worked for me.

Great point and sence.Ty brother... one last think i know a faster is intented fir havier bullets does it matter or hurt shooting the 105 on fast 1:7.5 barrel which ive heard its meant for havier 115

You should be fine with a 7.5 twist.

I have been running the 115 dtacs in a 1/7.3" Broughton, switching to a new setup which will be 1/7.5. This is the ideal twist for the 105-115s. What I found is the 115s are cheaper, but seem to be hard to find at the moment. The 115s also seem to make the transonic transition and come out better than the 105s, but we are talking about a round that is going subsonic around 1500-1600 yards depending on your load so you may not even need to consider that. The 105s do have a better BC, and with the right velocity they will outperform the 115s. It really comes down to which one shoots better out of your barrel, all my 243 tubes have had chambers cut for the dtacs so that's what I use.
