I'm interested in photos and/or descriptions of stages you've shot that you considered to be unique and/or interesting. In other words, stages that were more than a piece of steel at 953 yrds.

I'd like to compile the photos and/or videos in order to create a library of potential stages that could be used in future matches.

If possible, please cite your source and give credit to the creator(s) of the stage - my intentions are not to plagiarize, but, to build a knowledge base.

I'll start with an example photo: I found this on the Hide, no idea who created the stage or where it was, just that it was titled "Getto Car Jack".

Thanks Thrusty, good thread idea..That was my madness. The 4 black plates had to be engaged 2 times each from left to right without hitting the falldown hostages. distances was 300yds-330 yards plates were 4" last one was 6".

here's a great one from the New Mexico Match recently, shooters ran up the steep sandy hill and engaged small steel from 200-700 yds.

Man that guy is fat and left the dope in his gun from the previous stage.

Nice video, thanks for that Rich. Neat work on the Getto stage. ;)
Hopefully I'll get some more feedback on the thread.

Probably one of the oddest stages I've been on. It was at the Findlay Cup 2013, those man lifts are always moving even when their stopped.

Here's some other matches:

JC Steel Challenge, Its a pretty long video as I wanted to get everyone in our squad so feel free to click your way through. It does have some first person views I took of a few of the stages.

here's a unique one that presented plenty of challenges at the LSC '13

shooters had to follow the instructions once they reached the top of the tower and engage 4 coyotes in the correct order using their scope to measure where they were.

I'm diggin' the Mil 2 Find Coyotes. Great idea

Don't get too excited about the mil to find coyotes until you try it a couple times. A little info on the front end will go a long way towards making it a good stage without giving it away. The shooters need to know if the reference stake is for every coyote or to get you to the first one then using that coyote as the reference for the next before they get up there and start reading on the clock. It is also a good idea to state that the shooter moves on to next target after engaging hit or miss.

Here is a stage from Freddy's (Fargo007) match at Mifflin. Stage is called the USS Blackhat. When time starts you get onto the table. Shots are taken off a suspended picnic table at a steel target at 400 to 500 yards.

We had a stage just like the elevated picnic table, but it was called "The Swinger". lol Platform that was off the ground about a foot and suspended at all four corners by chain. Wish I had a photo....it was neat to shoot from.

Had a stage at the Sniper Golf match here in NC designed by Kyle that we shot a plate at ~700 that we could not see from the shooting position. You had to have a spotter watching through an elevated spotting scope with reticle that could tell you the adjustment from an aiming point. Target was over a berm and the shooter could not see the target so it required cooperation between the shooter/spotter to get the shot on the steel. Stage was a real mind f**k to shoot but once figured out it wasnt hard to shoot.

Neal T.'s Zia stage

Everyone was sequestered and shooters were brought out one by one. 5 shots at 6" gong at 620 yards 60 second time limit. Shooting position was prone behind a piece of refrigerator box cardboard with a 2"x2" hole cut in it about a foot off the ground.

You had lots of time to assess the situation, place your rifle to be in line with the 2" hole in the cardboard and still see and shoot the gong. You could not lie down behind your rifle or look through the scope.

Timer started with the shooter 5 yards away. Run up, 5 shots at the gong, 60 seconds. You got points for hitting the gong and lost points for hitting the cardboard shroud.

For 600 yards the bullet trajectory intersects the scope line-of-sight around 12 yards in front of the gun (closer for slow projectiles). If you had a very low-mounted scope you might have been able to put the muzzle, point blank, at the lower limit of the 2x2 cut out and still make out the gong at range. Either way it was entertaining to watch people squirm.

This is from memory so the details might be a little off but whatever.

2012 GAP Grind video makes me smile. Nice work - would love to see more videos of matches that are filmed this way. Be cool just to follow one shooter through the whole match so you get a feel for how it was shot.

One that's a favorite of mine at the Reade Sniper Challenge events is what we have dubbed "Miker's Moving Chaos"

The steel must be hit in order to shoot at the mover. The steel does not get points, but it does allow you to shoot at the paper target mover for score.

You can shoot it from "wherever" but we usually shoot it at 600yd.

Steel is placed at:

A) Appx 575yd, far shooter Left
B) Appx 90yd, directly in front of shooter with burm from the 500yd line as bullet stop
c) Appx 575, far shooter Right
D) Appx 195yd, camoflagued, far far shooter Right

The mover makes 1 pass along the pit wall (for a short pits you could do this with 2 passes)
Mover starts walking when the first shot is fired at A
Hit A, 1 shot at the mover
Hit B, 1 shot at the mover
Hit C, 1 shot at the mover
Hit D, 1 shot at the mover

Mover is a B27 repair center at walking pace. Time is up when the mover drops behind the burm at the far side.

Min 8 shots, max score is 40 points. It takes appx 45s per shooter to run.
