Rifle Scopes Best Scope Value when factoring in Law Enforcement Discount (question for the LEOs here.)

Hi,

This is a slight twist on the typical "What riflescope should I buy" question.

I'm fortunate that some optic companies offer discounts to law enforcement officers making private purchases. I know Vortex, Leopold, and I think Burris offer discounts. There may be others. (If you know of others, let me know, please.)

For the LEOs here that have gone down the same path and researches the various scopes, which scope did you end up with?

I'm looking for variable power (up to at least 16x if not 20x), some sort of tactical reticle, and MRAD turrets. I'm on the lower end of the price spectrum. Around $500 or less, but might pay more if its a good buy.

(I'm not allowed to list the prices, so I can't just ask "Should I by X scope for Y dollars or B scope for C dollars.)

Thanks.

I would say a Vortex Viper PST is your best option. I run a Nightforce on my GAP 338 Lapua and a Vortex Razor on my .260. $500 is really a low number for a good tactical optic.

For $500 you are pretty limited. The new Vortex HS-T is probably going to be your best bet. You might be able to squeeze a PST down close to that price, but its still gonna be more. The Leupold Mark AR Mod1 P5 is a good scope if you can deal with the 1" tube.

You guys are probably right about my price figure, and I've got some room to go a little higher. But keep in mind that the retail price will be higher than what I would pay. (Again, I'm honoring the companies' wishes and avoiding talking about the specifics of the various discounts.)

Vortex HS-T may be just what I'm looking for. I hear mixed reviews about their optical quality, though. However, no one complains about the warranty. I just picked up a Vortex spotting scope on a closeout and am very pleased with it.

(FWIW, this won't go on a duty weapon. This will be used on a hobby gun and might see some civilian tactical competitions. If lives were on the line, my budget would be higher.)

Thanks.

Seriously doubt you'll be disappointed with the clarity of the new HS-T, unless you are trying to compare it to optics twice or more the price.

I have the 5-15x HS-T and I have no complaints with the optics. None.

The Vortex Viper HS-T are very, very nice for the price. I just go one for myself.

Leozinho if we can be of help let us know. We are a LEO dealer for a lot of manufactures.
