Hey Guys
Shooting my new Grendel build for first time tomorrow. Concerned with the loads I put together tonight.

10 rounds 123 AMAX 28.0 g Varget 2.25
5 rounds 123 AMAX 28.2 g Varget 2.25
5 rounds 123 AMAX 28.4 g Varget 2.25
5 rounds 123 AMAX 28.5 g Varget 2.26

I know Varget is not the best for the Grendel. I do have some AA 2520. I am using the Varget just to brake in the gun and have some fun and keep the 2520 for load development.
All of the above are compressed and I am a little concerned.

Have loaded a lot of 308 WIN but never compressed.
Any help would be great.

Thanks

As long as the powder isn't pushing the bullets back out compressed loads are not a problem. Provided the charge weights are from a credible source.

I've been compressing .223 loads for over a year now. No issues whatsoever. Just make sure you aren't over pressure, and you'll be fine.

I've been shooting a Grendel for about 3 years now. Let's see, Lapua/AA brass only, 205 205m 450 Wolf SRM primers, 2520 xmr8208 Leverevolution (or however you spell it) Re15, too many types of bullets to list. I have a few go to bullets however. Try 120 smks and 123 amaxes. They don't cost what the 107 smk does and work very well. You just have to add a little more up in the scope. The 2520 and Lever will give you the velocity, but Lever beats the 2520 in both accuracy and less pressure in my rifle.

I run it close to max, but not at or over max.

I'm lucky in that my rifle does not have a long throat and can jam most bullets if I choose and still be at mag length. The 123 amax likes some jam but the 120 smk does not. It's a Satern 24" 5r fwiw.

It's a nice cartridge but can be a chore to figure out.

Oh, I never got either good velocity or accuracy from Varget and other powders work too good to waste barrel life and components. That's just me. Your load should not be too hot from what I can remember.

It did good!

Very surprised how well it shot. Lower parts kit trigger and the scope was way too low. Could barely see through it!
Varget did good but this was only 100 yds and I will stretch it way further with AA2520.

I will fix the 2 issues.
Thanks for the replys.
