Electrical switch or relay help...

I've had a lot of help from Hide members in the past finding info on things I don't know enough about and I need help again. I'm working on a home project where I need a air solenoid to open when a switch is pressed. However, I need a way for it to close again automatically within 1-2 seconds.

To break it down, I'll be using a NC (normally closed) button that will be held depressed. When the button is released the circuit will close and activate the air solenoid. I then need for the solenoid to close again automatically within the 1-2 seconds. The button will then be held closed again and the process needs to repeat.

Should I be looking for a button that self resets or a relay with delay? I've been googling all day and can't seem to find what I need. Really appreciate any help. I knows there's plenty of people smarter in these manners than I.

Search 8 pin off delay timer. But a bit more detail may reveal advice towards a bit simpler route.

Thanks, I'll read on those. I'm not sure what to detail more but I'll try.

A NC button (non latching type) will be held depressed. This will keep the circuit open. When the button is released the circuit will close. This will open the solenoid. I then need for the solenoid to automatically cycle closed again without the button being operated manually. So I need something that will open the circuit again to close the solenoid within a couple seconds. Then when the button is depressed again, the circuit is already open but will be re-closed when the button is released again.

Hope that helps some.

After re-re-reading, I still believe you can accomplish this with an 8 pin OD timer. There are also 12 pin on delay timers, but I don't think that is what you need. But I didn't take the time to draw out the circuit, long day.

Okay, just wanted to make sure your not building a bomb, who knows with this day and age, you can go to grainger and search timer relay and they got a list of options. I posted a link but I guess new members can't post links? Or Tapatalk is stupid I don't know.

Grainger normally sells to agricultural market so their products are usually robust and we'll made.

Nah, more along the lines of suped up potato launcher. Thanks, I've been flipping through the grainger catalog also, just too dumb to know which way to go.

Id consult with your mom,she has one installed in a ball gag that actuates when she bites down. when she bites down It closes the cirquit and the modified neumatic jack hammer with double dong attachment starts pummeling her ass and sinkhole all shocker style, its really a mechanical engineering marvel. She says its quite wonderful minus the drawback of her shit just falls out now. Also she named it the vjj and asshole punisher, just a coincidence

Leave out the electronics. Use a trigger type air nozzle for a pilot valve, and an air cylinder to open a full flow ball valve or butterfly valve. KISS.

Damn, I would but she found my hidden camera in there and banned me from her room at least until my son/brother is born.

Thought of that but do to space constraints need a electric button. Similar to spud gun but not. There will be a full write up on here in a couple weeks if I can get er done.

I think the 8 pin is down the right road though. Found this 555 Timer Adjustable Interval Module VM136, which looks interesting.

Sounds like an air horn valve for a truck to me. There are multiple kits out there that have an air valve like this for train horn kits. I would see if you can track one of the kits manufacturers down and buy just the valve.

if your making a t-shirt cannon to launch affliction t-shirts they already make that

Psshh, I'd never give away my precious affliction shirts.

Thanks for the idea. I have everything already, except for the the way to get the system to turn itself off. Thanks to Phantom I came across 555 circuits, which looks like exactly what I need.

If anyone is familiar with these I do have a couple questions on the 555 one shot.
