Picked up a Winchester in 7x57 this year. Been loading this cartridge for years, but most was RP, FC and PPU. Picked up a box of Hornady Superformance (1) to see what all the hype was about, (2) to have decent brass to reload.
It did shoot decent out of my Model 70, but when I went to reload the emptys, the case would not fit in the shell holder. Kinda freaked in thinking I had some serious pressure issues. Pulled out a fresh round and it would not fit either. Cases measure .470 at the case head and feed flawlessly.
Found that the case "groove" between the head and body was .416 vs .403-.405 of all the other brand cases.
Anyone else seen this with any of the Superformance ammo?
This was the 7x57 139 GMX #81556
Wondering if this was done intentionally so as to render the case non-relaodable?
Either way, I had to bust out the Lee Loader... tapity tap tap.
