Hunting & Fishing Is anyone else Hunting Wyo ?

The real question is who is bringing a can along to hunt this year now that it is legal as if today?

I will be rolling with the can this year in Wyoming and in Nevada, hoping to draw "first blood" with my Elite Iron can on the 6.5 SAUM, I had gone back and forth on that one, but decided to roll with it afterall, we will be hunting around horses, so it should be alot more friendly than my recoil eliminator tank brake and I realize that it is a weight penalty, but that rifle is already a heavy pig, to be realistic my opportunities with it are going to come from sitting on a high point and glassing rather than pulling up and making an off hand shot anyway....so let'r'buck! We are rolling suppressed this year!

Due to a power loss and all the meat in the freezer spoiling, this was a very gratifying harvest. This is first blood for the season. I don't have time for an elk hunt but should get a deer in Nov. Freezer should be set until next Sept.

205 yds
139gr PMC PSP bullet
70gr WC-860
6.5 WSM
Savage model 11
Pacnor 28" fluted polygonal rifled 8" twist barrel
Burris Euro-Diamond 2.5-10x50

6.5 SAUM suppressed

Here is the weapons of choice for my Wyoming hunt, 6.5 SAUM suppressed with Elite Iron Delta suppressor. 454 Casul Raging Judge for a bear gun, that thing is a hand cannon! The 6.5 is shooting lights out as well, looking forward to it.

Here is 4 rounds that I shot the other night with it suppressed, just getting it on paper as I was going out coyote calling the other night after we threaded the barrel for the can. I called a gut pile where a buddy shot his muzzle loader deer....no dice. It was windy, so I think that didn't help matters. But here is the 4 round group at 100 yards shot with my D930 clip-on and DBAL-D2 set op on there, not too shabby for a night time operation!

I'll be in Buffalo Wy at this time in 7 days. My first big game hunt out west. I'm a little psyched!

I live in Wyoming....so ya I will....

Come here and spend all the money you want to, unless you're from Colorado...then stay at home.

Sheridan wy for mule deer and antelope. Hunting on a alpha ranch heard that he got a few hog bucks running? We'll see?

4 days and a wake up! Got the 6.5 SAUM dialed in, dope cards made up, quick reference ranging card made up for using the reticle to range if necessary, now if the the clock would tick tock a little faster! :) Still gathering my gear and getting the pack ready, I can't wait to get out of the asphalt jungle and get up on the mountain!

Good luck to y'all this fall with your hunts!

Kind of made short work or short hunt of antelope in area 7. Wife and I had two Any and one doe tags, had all three harvested by 11 AM.

Don't know why people say numbers are down in NE Wyoming. I've hunted this same area for years and there were more critters this year (northern part of area 7) then any year I can remember.

Wife got a nice buck (her first antelope), mine wasn't so big, somebody shot his foot off and I decided to get him to keep him from suffering and starving later. Got a good fat 2 year old doe.

So now to get ready for elk.

The reason why the number of animals isn't down on your side of the state is because the wolves and bears haven't made it over there yet. Wait 20 years!!
Wolves are destroying the elk population in the Beartooth Mtns and within 200 miles of the park. Deer are down as well as antelope, mostly from a blood borne pathogen but also from predators (mountain lion, grizzly bears, wolves). Wait until the elite in Casper can't find any elk in the Big Horns - then "fit will hit the shan".

Wolves are already on the east side of the state. Not in large numbers by any means but they are here. Won't be too long and the numbers will grow.

I hope to do my part in the Thorofare country this year! There are 5 of us going in and we all have tags for the big bad wolf! Hoping to introduce one to the 6.5 SAUM Suppressed! :)

Please take a dozen each. We need all the help we can get to make the number ZERO in WY

I'm off to a good start.

Filled one cow tag with my bow in area 100, 32 yard pass through.

Got my doe antelope this morning in area 90 with my Rem 700 30-06 with a 250-260 yard heart shot...didn't range it I knew it was inside 300 yards and with the load I'm shooting and how I'm zeroed its a center chest hold out to 300 yards.

Found my buddy this wide buck the same day I got my elk.

I also stuck a 28-30" wide 2x2 mule deer at 11 yards. It was a hard down hill angle and I blew the shot planting my arrow into its shoulder blade. I went 7 miles according to my GPS and spent 9 hours tracking the day I shot it, had to give up because of a storm. Went back out the next day glassing for birds thinking if he tipped over he something would be on him. No luck. I have been out a couple times since than looking for him. I'll eat that tag, doesn't seem right to put it on another deer.

Also found this 6 point bull with a broken neck while looking for my mule deer buck.

I have one more elk tag that I will probably try and fill in December.

Just got back from doing a little antelope hunting, I filled my two doe tags on opening day.

Took this one with the 6SLR at 520yds

Biggest horns i've seen on a doe, actually has little cutters

Found this buck for my buddy who was a first timer out there

Always a fun trip and don't listen to the fools that say they don't taste good, they are better than whitetails as far as i'm concerned.

He doesn't want people who live in Colorado to hunt in Wyoming.

Umm, thanks but I was able to figure that part out. I was curious as to why he feels that way.

Congrats to everyone that has filled their tags. I'm looking forward to hunting up there next week despite not being welcome ;)

P.S. I'll also be bringing a can.

Shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Colorado has become a liberal shit hole on the fast track to becoming an elite shit hole like California, NY, Illinois ect. I know there are a lot of good people down there with you probably being one of them but you are slowly becoming outnumbered.

I don't think those are the ones that will be going to WY to hunt. I can't speak for everyone but I chose to not spend money in Colorado and instead give it to WY. I've hunted up there for several years and really enjoy it. Anyway, enough politics, but it is sad how far this state slid so quickly.
