I have never actually sold any of my firearms before, I plan to sell 2 AR's I have. They are both in great condition. I have 200-300 rounds down each one.

Firearm #1 Black Rain Ordinance PG-15- one year old, 18" fluted barrel, 308, Retail is $2800.
How much do they diminish in value being lightly used? What is a fair price to sell it for.

My rule of thumb for selling a "lightly" used firearm: Lowest "retail" (NOT MSRP) price you can find on-line minus 10% . What you actually paid for it originally is not relevant to the selling price determination. Putting it another way, if I'm buying, I won't pay more than 10% below lowest retail I can find for a new one, for any used firearm no matter how "lightly" it's owner says it's been used.

Once you "finger fuck it" out of the store, even if you never fired it, you lose some money. IMHO and YMMV

Discontinued, or rare items or historical firearms, have a entirely different pricing calculus.

I agree but depending on the model you are selling and buyer demand the price could be quite a bit less for items with unfavorable history like the SIG 556 or closer to retail for rifles like the LaRue OBR.

I would think you would loose less $$$ percentage wise on reselling the Black Rain than the S&W

Best advice for finding true "fair market value" (FMV) (i.e. - what people are actual able to command for like/similar items) is to go to GunBroker and log in, then search for COMPLETED sales over the last 90 days and gauge what items such as your two rifles are fetching. The market for semi-autos in all shapes and sizes has settled down quite a bit recently and you aren't going to be able to get nearly what you would have just a few months back when every idiot in the known universe was raping and pillaging on prices even for garbage. ;)

Just wait until the next elections, either Mid Term or Presidential and you will probably get what you paid for out of it lol. In all honesty I just search armslist or gunbroker as mentioned above and see what everything is going for and base my decision off of that

Yeah the market for ARs sucks right now. I had a couple for sale and I pulled both the ads because the offers I got were strange.

Hang on to them until the next economic or political crisis and you'll get your money for them.

Go to Calguns.net and research how to configure them to be California legal. Configure them for California. Wait a week and see if SB374 becomes law. If it does, sell on Calguns before end of year for major profit.

That is some good advice. All I need to do is convert them to bullet button guns right?

Not necessarily that simple. Check out the flow charts at the top of the page. There are some sneaky issues too -- for example, on a SCAR 17 you also have to pin the stock or it will be under California's minimum length. It would pay to do a little reading first and make sure buyer does the same and has double checked with the FFL he plans to use so there are no mistakes.

The market changes everyday. A guns worth what someone is willing to pay. Just know what others are going for so you don't get low balled.
