I just enjoy it my friend. I get out of work at a decent hour and just relax near the truck on the family farm. Drag out the binos, spotting scope, and mat, then relax from about 1600-1800. I am switching fields finally, after eradicating 15 from the main lot. I have at least 1 spectator coming with tonight and acquired the video camera, if this field is a hotspot, I may have a treat for you.

Unfortunately, due to the proximity of houses/roads/cattle, I'm still running the suppressed 308 and not my new 6.5CM or 30-378 wby. I can't promise a lot of red mist, but if they show up, we'll have some kills.

The first video will be a slow motion session with the critter from the other night. It was about 180 yards and somehow my rig started shooting 4 MOA left, I hadn't zeroed out the turrets so I may have done it in the bag or by accident. It took two shots, after a call and correction he was hit with a less than stellar shot as you will see.

The second and third are from tonight. (third will be a slow motion of the second) We reverted back to the old field and quickly zeroed the rifle. I couldn't get a comfortable safe backstop in the new area, so it is likely out of the question. This idiot was our welcoming committee, he met with the 168 AMAX to the throat. Here's his smiling face.

Took my uncle out with me for a little treat yesterday and had a really great time. We sat on the tailgate. drank a few beers, and blew a few hours just watching the deer while scanning for critters.

We are still hunting the original field, every photo that I have posted with the exception of one has been in this same field. I need to find a new spot that can provide me a safe backstop. I have at least two more that I spotted yesterday in this location but they were too close to the neighboring property. I walked over and checked and they have visible paths and holes on our side, hopefully I catch them soon, it will be in the 380-420 yard range.

Anyhow, this idiot popped out right at 158 yards. It had been lucky in the past and normally pops up where I can see him while I stand but hidden by a pond dam if I go prone, but I chose to improvise.

yeah well when i went prairie doggin last time, i didn't have a hot rod like the other guys did aka a 22-243, 22-250 etc, didn't really feel like building another gun just for that so a DTA barrel it is :D
 
well the DTA makes it easy to cover all your bases, i have one more barrel extension to use may do a 6.5 SAUM
 
Well yesterday was the opener for us here in the high country, Burglecutt, Goathead1086, Chubbles, and myself braved the beautiful day. We drove up to our favorite spot, parked the greaseburner, and started into the snow covered canyons. First stop was at a rock that has produced many good shots, and Rusty never seems to figure out that eventually, we will get to him. I spotted him first, so I quickly deployed the DTA .260, fired up the video camera, and introduced rusty to Fred Barnes' best creation. The sunny day was already beautiful, with the smell of pine trees warming in the sun, birds singing, cold clear streams flowing with glee. It was only sweetened by the scene of hair floating in tufts in the mountain breeze



After recovering rusty, we moved along up our soggy grass bottomed canyon, trying to keep from falling through the snow and the beaver holes. Me and Goathead1086 found some voids under the snow:

As we made our way, Chubbles spotted another chuck, on one of our favorite rocks. It was 317yds if I recall, we prepared for a shot. SOMEBODY was a little anxious to get rounds downrange, and couldn't wait for me to push record on the video camera, or plug my ears for that matter. so you wont get to see any footage of that. but here are some pics:

We named him stumpy, both my son and I recall shooting one last year, but he got away, but not without leaving a foot behind. This must have been him. What a survivor huh? it looked like it had been surgically done.

I can't help but be envious seeing all the pretty country and critters you have up north! I always enjoy your hunting reports BTW.

My wife and I are headed out on our annual vacation in 3 weeks. Making a big circle through UT, ID, OR, WA, then back home. I'll be bringing my 20-47L along because we'll be camping out in the middle of nowhere half the time and I might have to protect us from marauding varmints, LOL. A mild load of 40 vmax at 4100fps oughta do a number on some Rockchucks!
 
So today was another beauty up in the high rockies, burglecutt, goathead1096, myself, and CBM jr. went up early. The brisk mountain air felt great as we hustled up the trail. The first shot of the day went to Goathead1096, Rusty's girlfriend (who came to be known as Sheila) was found mourning his loss from our last trip. Sitting on the same rock he was nearly. I pieced together some video clips from today, as well as a clip of Rusty's last stand from my last post. After we collected Sheila, and harvested her hide (making for a handsome squish mitten), we had a little fun taking shots at "stuff".

our chucks / groundhogs out my way don't have that white facial hair. they must be "senior chucks" you got, needs a little "just for chucks" hair dye!
 
we got chuckin every weekend in the spring and fall. Got this guy last weekend at 789y with 6.5cm.
 
ill hafta get the video camera out next weekend, see if we can get some good footage, i wish we could find em close like you guys but the closest we can get is around 350 yards. any closer and they go into hiding.
 
We have one particular set of rocks that annually gives us 150 yard shots, but most of ours are also 350+. I think my son has our closest shot at about 50 yards, but there was a stalk involved.
 
Good question, and a topic we haven't discussed as of yet. Immediate care upon recovery involves a detailed photo shoot, and a pest inspection, which until the last couple chucks, has shown nothing. But two of last few we have encountered fleas.

Then, as you can see below, as expertly and cunning as one can; chubbles is seen here skinning out one of our prey:






With the creamy and callous-less hand of a skilled tradesman, he removes the pelt, and sets it aside for tanning. His lotion and cow shin extract never far from him. It is my understanding that he plans to fashion a suit of sorts, in which he can conceal his human form, and make contact with the furry little clan's, learn their ways, and become their God.




Also, we have been looking into recipe's, I know there are plenty of redneck's out there that eat em. Therefore there should be an abundance of recipes out there, it may sound crazy, but we may try and eat the little fellas.

I shot this big bastard held cunningly by Burglecutt over the weekend, He and I were shooting them at 428 yards in a 17mph wind. It was giving even the .260's a run for the money.


Goathead pounded this other beauty at a mere 80 yards, caught him climbing around in a shrub.

These two were probably the oldest/largest chucks we've ever taken. A great day except for the wind.
 
What a great Father's Day, me and my kids went up to one of my favorite spots and enjoyed the green grass and warm sunshine. The chucks came out after a while, and we made a great time out of it.

Mrs Coldboremiracle is out of town for a few days, so last night I took the kids out again. We found a pair of young chucks, probably this years brood. I managed to put some heat on one of them, 185 yds:







The .260 sure makes good chuck medicine.

My oldest son with one he dinged at 210 meters with his Ruger 17HMR. His SWAG was perfect.
 
Well gentlemen, here it is, the long awaited Major League Chucker's II. Lots more killin, some awesome bullet trace, and high flying chucks. Watch it in 1080p if you can, its way better.

It wouldn't be right for me not to give credit to some fine shooting and hunting skills to my teammates; Chubbles, Burglecutt, and Goathead1096 who all helped make these shots. Also to little CBM Jr. who helped film and gave some energetic commentary as well.

Looking great guys! Keep up the good work. Hopefully I will have something soon. It has been too wet here for the farmers to take down any hay this season and the fields have grown too high. I secured another 900+ acre farm to hunt this year, so hopefully I'll have some more pics.

I made a trip out last Thursday and only could spot one, but he bit the bullet. :)

A couple more for the buzzards. I primarily chuck hunt with my 22-250 Ackley but want to put some time on the new HK MR556 this summer. Have gotten one shot kills with it out to 404 yds so far with handloaded 75gr Hornady BTHP's. Surprisingly accurate for a 16" gas gun.



I thought I'd try some Mk255 frangible stuff I had laying around for grins and appease my curiosity. Not over impressed but it did a pretty good job nonetheless. About the same results I'd expect from a well placed amax.
