Lets all have a pity party for Tom Cruise

To quote an actual actor in this case that I think is only fitting for Tom Cruise:

“Life's hard. It's even harder when you're stupid.” John Wayne

!

Hey if you look in the upper right hand corner of that link you'll see something a LOT more interesting than Tom Cruise. There's a link to Kate Upton and BODY PAINT!

YEAH BABY!

Shit! It is so fucking hard for him.

The caterers might as well be the Taliban, and the personal assistants? They're like Chechens! Watch out when driving the golf carts around the studio lot. Those damn FX guys are leaving those IEDs everywhere. Every pigeon crapping from a roof might as well be a mortar getting ready to send you to heaven, or back to wardrobe.

/sarcasm

Fucking pretentious ass cocksucker.

Permanent boycott anyone? I'm thinking about even writing to the guys in charge of Archer to get them to stop with the Top Gun references because of this shit.

Overpaid retard.

I'm just pissed! A couple of glasses of Four Roses single barrel, I'm expecting to see a link with pictures of "The Kate" and all I find is pics and nice words about that little girly, squirrley little fuck. What a wasteof both skin and my time.

That shit is unbelievable. I stopped watching anything to do with him since his stand on the couch shit on Oprah. This crap sealed the deal for life.

Look for it, straight out of Hollywood... the "new" era of PHONE PARENTING! And my phone conversation skills suck... FUCK!

This is the mindset that can develop when you live in a bubble.

TOM needs a Combat Buddy.
Put TOM and Combat Buddy into a world of unscripted SHIT & MISERY.
Heap more unscripted SHIT & MISERY on TOM and Combat Buddy.
Make TOM and Combat Buddy rely on each other just to survive.
Have Combat Buddy save TOM several times.
At end of Tour when TOM and Combat Buddy have "made it" and survived, blow Combat Buddy's brains out all over TOM.

Then ask TOM about how hard acting is ...

Thread FAIL.
Those words were originally stated by Cruise's attorney in the deposition. When Cruise was asked about them after the fact as he was not present when his attorney said them, he did say as he laughed that some days he could think that, but the facts are that those original words came from his attorney, not him.

Here’s how the deposition actually reads:(bold and italicized emphasis is mine)

“Now your counsel has publicly equated your absence from Suri for these extended periods of time as being analogous to someone fighting in Afghanistan,” opposing counsel asks him. “Are you aware of that?”

“I didn’t hear the Afghanistan,” Cruise replies. “That’s what it feels like and certainly on this last movie it was brutal. it was brutal.”
“Do you believe that the situations are the same?” Cruise is asked.
“Oh come on,” Cruise says, “you know, we’re making a movie.”

For anyone who has bothered to actually take time to chase this down and find the words from the deposition, it is obvious that the attorney said this, and not Cruise.
I will not stand up for Cruise or any other actor, but I will stand against misrepresentation of fact that is so blatantly obvious here

I expect more from most here, but not the same behavior as Barney's fat assed butt ugly stupid beyond ignorant wife across the street

Thank you Switchblade.

I'm glad I read the entire thread before posting, because it does sound ridiculous that anyone would say that. And who knows what the facts really are? The media will and can say anything to twist the truth, and it often does. As we know there is no fidelity in what we hear and read, it's unlikely that the un compromised truth has ever existed in reporting.

Though we love to hate actors, they are just as fucked up as the rest of us. The only difference between them and us is they have a microphone shoved in their faces. And some of them probably make a lot more money, that can give rise to some delusion.

"The truth! you can handle the truth" haha, sorry it just seemed fitting.

Love how everyone hates the media, but they'r quick to believe something when it aligns with a predesposition. Now will come the excuses to justify the actions...

But wait, this doesn't mean Cruise isn't an unmitigated throbber, just that in this case his lawyer is too... :)

I don't need any more excuses to dislike Tom Cruise. I maxed out on this dickhead years ago and would just love to see him suddenly become anonymous.

Thanks Switchblade, I just read a report from someone who was actually able to watch the video and they say "then when the lawyer says "Do you believe the situations [being in a movie and fighting a war in Afghanistan] are the same?" ... Cruise becomes almost indignant and says, "Oh come on." At this point he is clearly saying they're not the same."

And while I think Tom Cruise could be bat-shit crazy with all that Scientology stuff, I've yet to hear him bash America and spout Libtard nonsense like almost every other actor in Hollywood. Of course, now someone will link some crazy hippie shiz that Tom Cruise said so let me repeat -- I've yet to hear him say it.

Switchblade, I'm sick of you ruining my intertainment with facts!

I doubt Tom could even make it thru boot camp much less spend a year in a hazardous duty area...

I will admit that he is a hell of an actor, and excels at his craft.
However, I don't agree with some of his personal positions, but that won't stop me from going to his movies for entertainment value.

suck it up and drive on then, be ignorant, don't matter to me ;)
I heard the ACA was a total success, and the website to get your healthcare renewed by your former insurer is authorized. It also says that you can go back to your original doctor and your original low price too. I got a good cigar going, can I blow some more smoke up your asses? BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I put in bold and underlined the last sentence. The sentence after that where he tries to be dismissive about it, is his attempt at damage control.

I still think he said it, and after reading that sentence that I underlined and put in bold, I'm 100% positive that he was the one behind his lawyer's words.

I mean, think in these terms. Lawyer has celebrity client. Lawyer repeats exactly what celebrity client says, because he doesn't want to piss off meal ticket by saying anything different. Celebrity's words, through lawyer, piss people off. Celebrity does damage control. Says lawyer said all of those things, is sorry and blah fucking blah, he didn't mean it, and he is a different kind of sociopath, a much more kind, caring, and understanding sociopath then people make him out to be. Does halfheartedly some little community service things that get massive amount of media air time, and make him look like less of a tool in everybody's eyes, maybe even a controlled celebrity tour in a safe environment overseas but not without a loss of any of the usual amenities. Then, after about two weeks, when everyone has forgotten about it, after maybe another water-skiing squirrel video, or another celebrity scandal, then everyone will forget about it.

The above has already happened in regards to some other celebrity cases. I don't know if anyone is really looking forward to The Tom Cruise Damage Control World Tour though.

Apparently you like supporting Scientology. You're privilege, but I wouldn't personally spend a dime on anything Tom Cruise makes money from.

What a bunch of fuckin' sniveling whiners. I'm no Tom Cruise fan either, but I can parse the likelihood of the media's ability to distort the truth better than take headlines for gospel. Yeah, I know there's a metric shit-ton load of idiots on this forum now, and the old days when this was a much better-focused shooting forum is long gone.

This is what's left of "quality" on SH, and sorry Switchblade, as much as your efforts to right this barge are appreciated (by at least me), the general direction of this forum and it's FNG newbie wave is the reason I don't hardly visit here anymore.

Hell, there're assbites here who'll believe/fantasize what they want to about anything. One dick even claims his disgust with Cruise is because Cruise is the "one behind his lawyer's words", and all the Cruise quotations are "backpedaling".

I got better to do than check on my old favorite forum; I'm finished like Green308 with this place. Thanks Terry, Switchblade, Bruce, Frank, Greg, MikeD (yes, Mike, too) Capt. Huskey, et. al. for all your help and advice over the years. I've left out a ton of names, but them's the ones I remember from when I used to come here.

Back to your dialogue, old hens.

100% agree... fuck Tom Kruze AND the horse he rode in on!

I never thought that I would be in a position to defend a remark made by Tom Cruise....

But if you look at what the actors in the movie 'Man of Steel' went through at Gym Jones to get ready for the role, it's the same as any professional athlete.

And, if Tom Cruise sat around on a closed set, his movement restricted, waiting while nothing of importance happened until he was required to do the same minor task over and over again, then his job was very much like what most of our military is now doing in Afghanistan.

Gotcha graham, see kind of where your coming from but ill list these things! He's not worried about stepping on IEDs. He doesn't have people loathing to kill him! He gets to look at and handle nice looking puss on a daily basis at his discretion. He can drink and eat what he wants, when he wants it. He gets warmth or cold when he needs it. He gets to smell nice and be clean when he wants. He also gets to loudly voice his bullshit with no true reprecussion. He also makes enough cash to retire tenfold each film he makes. I truly wonder if he would take a gozillion paycut and go have a chance to get his ass blown off. I doubt it! I fucking hate people that talk about shit they know nothing about. My .02!

I don't know anything about Scientology, or support it.
I enjoy his movies, and will continue to go see them.
I am not about to boycott every little thing I don't agree with.
Do you think Tom Cruise cares whether I go see one of his movies or not? I doubt it, so why should I not get some enjoyment or entertainment out of one of his movies?
No need to make my life less enjoyable just because I might not agree with his stand on Scientology.

Scientology, founded by LRon Hubbard, is about giving everything you financially own to the church and working your way up.
When you are head dog, which Tom is close to, you draw the benefits of all of the people giving.

It's rather like a py ramid scheme.

That said, I am a HUGE believer in the Ancient Astronaut theory but Scientology comes from a fictional book and following a HUMAN in a re ligion is just wrong because humans are greedy, emotional, thieves, liars, crooks....not all of us but many are.
(Look at Wall St!)

That cancels out Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and a bunch of the other religions too...

That is what most people fail to see, All religion is man made, but only a few acknowledge it.

I thought I'd deleted that post...deleted now. This thread is on it's way to trouble....

It is categorically NOT the same thing as what a professional athlete goes through, on many levels. First off, where the hell is game day in the above scenario? I have seen many guys show up to camp thinking they could condition themselves through things like being spastic, an unwillingness to take a hit, or a complete lack of vision to see what's going on in the violent world around him. And I want emphasize the violent part here because the comparison was to a violent world. I have seen guys who could last longer than the VO2 machine tech was willing to stand there to find out when this guy would finally wear out, but when he's staring down someone doing their best to take his head off he comes to pieces. I have seen guys so ripped, strong and fast it seemed unreal, but at the end of the first week of camp the trainer told them coach needed to have a conversation... time to pack your bag and maybe prepare for next year. It's a painful lesson innumerable kids learn every year. Now let's take this beyond the world of simply losing a few teeth, maybe shredding an ACL, and a few hundred stitches and move on to being killed or maimed and I find it beyond my ability to imagine how anyone can make a rational comparison to someone flopping around a gym in spandex. Although some would certainly look great on a movie set.

Lets all have a pity party for Tom Cruise

I am not defending Tom Cruise's stupidity, just his analogy.

I take your point, but:

First, game day is not part of training.

Second, professional athletes are, today, doing much of exactly the same training with Mark that the actor did for that movie. And they are professional MMA fighters, so they do know something about injury.

Third, and with reference to the military, working out to produce the appearance of fitness is different from working out to produce actual fitness, but if you think the first doesn't play a role in our military you have never shared space with certain members of JSOC.

Funny thing is I didn't say anything about you defending Tom Cruise. That's your issue to wrestle with. God help you with that. I did go after your comment "But if you look at what the actors in the movie 'Man of Steel' went through at Gym Jones to get ready for the role, it's the same as any professional athlete." Enough about that. Now onto the stale gasoline you next threw onto the fire:

1. Professional athletes have a game day. Trust me on this one and let it go.
2. When Wahlberg needs to be revived after a blow to the head by a professional MMA fighter I will concede that he is training as pro MMA fighters do. Do not hold your breath on this one
3. You really got me on this last point. Since I only actually see the member of JSOC that I report to for maybe 8 to 12 days per month you are correct in saying that I don't share much space with them out of the other 20 or so days of the month. Oh crap, and it's only a dotted line to this guy so you got me again! And I am training for a few adventure races with some recent vintage members of JSOC (see, you got me yet again... they are not active). And as there is no spandex or make up room in such training I suspect you are ready to launch some more of that kerosene...

Comparisons between people who pretend to be other people and the people they are pretending to be are of little value, and at times offensive.

Lets all have a pity party for Tom Cruise

Fair enough.

You're right: If I wrestle with my own defense of Tom Cruise I'm going to lose against myself. Lol!

I'll trust you on the game day thing if you'll admit that when it happens it's no longer training.

There's no spandex or mirrors at Gym Jones, either. Mark Twight; not Wahlberg. But I can't speak to an absence of hair product at either location.

I do agree with your last paragraph, though. Well said.
