Good evening!

I Just finished putting some goodies on the AR10 for the purpose of shooting longer ranges than I have previously shot. I am not a new shooter, but have always limited my self to shotgunning and shorter range (within 200 yards) with various other rifles. With that being said my AR10 is chambered in 308 and I need a scope and a better than stock barrel. My question is what reticle would be best for a semi-auto shooting out to 1000 yards of paper punching I may also be using this rifle to hunt with on occasion. My budget for a scope is around 1k.

BTW I read the previous posts on this subject put didnt find anything specific. Thanks for the insight.

I prefer the Mil based scopes MIL reticle and MIL turrets. MOA scopes work good also.

As for reticle patterns I would recommend ones like the G2 in the Bushnell, GENIIXR in the Premier, and the EBR-2B in the Vortex. As you can see they all have a Christmas Tree look to them. I also like the plan old Mil-Dot RETs and Mil-Dot GENII for speed (K.I.S.S.), I pick up the dots fast than the lines.

We sell a lot of scopes so if we can be of help let me know.

Thanks for the reply I was thinking that the "Christmas" tree type reticles would be faster. But i have been using red dots and iron sights since I began shooting so im a complete newb in this area.

I recently posted some thoughts on the H59 reticle running on my JP LRP-07 (essentially and AR-10). I personally think a 'Christmas tree' type reticle adds tremendous value to a semi-auto long range gun, especially for a single person (not having a dedicated spotter). Being able to accurately adjust and quickly place a followup shot on target is what it's all about. This only becomes noticeable if the shooter and gun are able to manage the recoil and watch the shot impact. I've found that it didn't take long for me to adjust to and benefit from the more complicated reticle.

Take a look at my post here for more info: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...-w-bushnell-hdmr-h59-reticle-impressions.html

Again, this is only my opinion and ultimately worth what you paid. ;-)

Can't go wrong with a Leupold Mk 4 3.5-10 with TMR. Great value.

you should have gone with a IOR MP-8 xtreme. They are in Littleton and would give you a discount if you walk in and buy it.

as some mentioned the vortex ebr-2 reticle , not sure i got that right but the one with the hold over, or even the bushnell elite...

I actually just happened to see the IOR store earlier when taking my bow to the archery shop near there. But now that the sight is being mail I may as well embrace my choice.

The BT reticle on this scope is optimized for 308 and with a little allowance for my 18" BBL on the REPR, pretty much gives me spot on hold overs. Zero is set at 100.
Really great glass in here and it has held up to about 500 rounds of FGMM 168g so far with zero issues. Mine is in a Spuhr 20 MOA mount.

Of course, that adds up to a little over 2K in the scope and mount but you do get what you paid for.
