I recently bought some "play" ammo. Had to buy it loaded because they didnt sell just the projectiles. I am a real meticulous reloader and like things to be right. The pic below is what I recieved...add a 2 in front of the #'s on the case and thats the oal to ogive. These are horrible. Debate is wheather to pull projectiles and make them right; maybe even seat them longer so they'll be closer to my POI at 400 or just shoot them. Not competition bullets but they cost a fortune and im too meticulous. I want every round to count....what to do.....

What kind of ammo is it? If youwant great factory ammo look into Black Hills, Federal, Hornady, but there are others.

Hope you get what your looking for.

Good Luck!

Yuck! Just bump fire them out of an AR10,... High volume spraying is a great way to work off aggression! :)

Lol! Blurry6 that's some funny sh$t right there! It is super incediary ammo in LC brass. Not sure of ACTUAL manufacturer... I can only imagine how much variance is in the powder charges. So yeah bump fire on a 24" steel target at 100yds might be all I can do

RobertB, I don't usually buy factory ammo but yes; BH, FGMM, & NORMA 168 is all decent

I'm thinkin' more like watermelons and 2-liter soda bottles (shaken) at 30'! Why leave anything to chance! You said you "want every round count" didn't you? ;)

Well...then you wouldn't get the super incediary affect. Must use on hard targets to get the full effect....you know, the big bang on contact:cool:

shoot some of it first and see how it does... that variance in OAL might be due to the thickness of the coating on the bullet, something which could have minimal effect in the scheme of things...

The max difference in base to ogive length from the numbers in your picture seems to be 22 thousands. It also looks as though the bullets are not VLDs, but rather something with a tangent ogive. They MAY be relatively tolerant of the jump. If so, you might not notice a huge difference between rounds. The only way to know for sure is to shoot a few and see. With the lack of attention to seating depth, I'd be much more concerned that the powder charges were also measured with a similar lack of attention. If the charge weights are all over the place, pulling the projectiles and changing the seating depth may not buy you much. I'd just shoot a few and see what happens.

Yeah, powder charge was my main concern after see the rather broad seating depths. Ill give a few a try for sure. If I do pull them apart, obviously id dump the powder and start from scratch. The case lengths and necks look like crap also, so I dont expect much from these. Not expecting 1/2 minute by any means but geesh, throw me a bone, id be lucky to see 1 1/2 " at 100 with the looks. Thanks for the comments guys and ill repost when we get a day less than 17 mph winds.
