At this price point, you're competing with a B&C stock with a DBM added. There's no comparison. I have two Howa SAs and an aftermarket stock a weak link. At this price, I could budget one in 2014 and 2015 for what I'd do for one rifle next year. Please try to make the Howa available. I prefer the color of dirt, but I'd paint over a color I didn't like.

The FDE version would hit a wider audience in the market. Patriot Brown and Burnt Bronze are popular among a smaller subset of buyers. My experience with Cerakote and polymer frame firearms in the mass market over the past few years tells me consumers tend to gravitate to the more standard colors. We ran a 100 piece exclusive Burnt Bronze Cerakote AR last year, as well as, stocking a standard PB, OD and the FDE Cerakote rifles from the same vendor. Retailers tended to love or hate the Burnt Bronze and were lukewarm on the Browns, but always reordered the FDE. OD was dead last in terms of demand, btw...FDE still has legs.

I said "FDE" thinking that it was the cool green color which was actually known as foilage green. There really wasn't much "dark" about FDE but it ended up working out better to have it FDE (which just seemed like tan to me).

If there was ever a SHOT show I felt I needed to attend, it's 2014. Sadly, a little thing known as college keeps younger enthusiasts glued to the hide instead of the show floor. As my previous posts here among others say, inlet for a Howa and the precision rifle market may see a shift. The United States lacks any real chassis options for these actions and sending our hard earned cash over to Europe for the Roedale option isn't appealing to me. I would much rather support KRG.
SHOT will be there brother. Companies like ours are already thinking of ways to go bigger and better for 2015 SHOT. What I would ask you not to do is do go into debt for one of our chassis, especially as a college student. If you work hard, get through college, then work hard and be successful in your career, you'll be able to put a Whiskey-3 on 5 different rifles if you want and have those crazy new Hensoldts on there too. But...debt is an anchor and it will drag you down so that you never get to even one Whiskey-3 or any high end rifle. You may be smart and know this but since I don't know you personally I wanted to mention it. A wise person once said not to purchase toys or "luxuries" on credit. It took me awhile myself to come around but it's a sound philosophy.
Anyway, after the weekend we're going to try to get you guys a real pic. It honestly won't look much or any different since renderings are pretty good these days but it is good to see the real thing.

Debt is an anchor, and that's why I went with Howa for my precision rifle. Being a college student with limited time for the range, it is more than acceptable accuracy. Thanks for the wise words. This X-Ray chassis is well within my budget and that is why I have been posting my hopes for the inlet options.

bribassguy, you can add a rail to the front of the forearm where you'd normally put a bipod at the front or just in front of the magwell like for a tripod, in both positions it's the MOE L2 rail spacing. We're not doing pre-orders on this one really, just a notification list. If we get to the point where the notification list exceeds our first production run then we'll have to look at making it a pre-order list.
D_Lamz, the forend has grooves at the front for a Harris bipod. The grooves keep the bipod from rotating. That's why it's squared off at the front but it's only the first couple inches then after than it is nice an rounded and feels fine in the hand.
Hopefully we can fit the Howa in there (along with the Win/FN, Savage, etc). If not I think we're gonna have to find a way to convert some of you Howa shooters over to Tikkas, haha.

C'mon now, give us some pictures.
+1 for the howa inlet, but agree with the conversion to tikka. I've loved my howa/B&C combo in .308 as a good intro gun. That being said, with the metric threads in the action it can be challenging to find a smith to screw a new barrel into it. The howa action is amazing but if you plan on re-barreling the tikka seems like the way to go. Look forward to the x-ray for a tikka 6.5 CM build.
+1 I'm really excited about getting my hands on one. I love my Whiskey 3, especially the ergonomics, but it's to heavy for a hunting setup. If I can set up a hunting rifle that matches my precision rifle I will be one happy camper.

The LOP with the regular pad is about 12.8" at the shortest but you could get a thinner pad to go shorter on the LOP. The buttpad pattern is the Rem 700 pattern (for the wood stocks).

Not sure if this has been addressed already but are there any issues with cleaning rod clearance? Taking the cheek piece off seems simple but what about the butt pad? Does its height interfere with cleaning? Is it adjustable for height?

Justin, with regards the forend. Could you make the mag well a little deeper. Like the trg? I know it was not possible when using aluminium.
I really like this stock, except for the two spar transition from the grip to butt stock. If it had the traditional (one large spar) Sako TRG grip/stock style I'd be buying one (possibly more) as soon as they became available.

That upper spar for the stock is where I put my thumb, that's why I was asking about a single thicker spar at the bottom, just like the TRG. Boy, if it wasn't for that upper spar, this would be the cats meow for me.

So when would we realistically be seeing savage model 10 with bolt release on the underside? If its 8 months out I should probably look elsewhere for my chassis needs, but if not... I could see myself waiting half a year.

How stiff is the forearm? Is there a structure up there adding support?
Morning fellas. There are two mounting positions for rails on the forend so any rail mounted bipod can be used. The hole spacing is the MOE L2 hole spacing (1.190").
It's too early to say on the Savage/Howa/Win/FN versions as far a timeline. Ideally it would be inside of 8 months but we just don't know.
The forearm is very stiff, the aluminum backbone runs the full length of the forend. Just the polymer forend itself is stiff enough that it could probably be used alone as the front of the chassis.
