Ive been reloading for about 3 years now, always had access to long range at our ranch so I always used to do load development at long range (400-800 yards), I am now a believer in 100 yard load dev.! I've never seen nodes react like this, it was very clear that I hit a node, AND I knew exactly when it ended. If you are loading for a new rifle, give Dan a ring, best $40 I've spent on reloading.

here's what I did: Sent him over a 200 yard OCW I did 2 days before.

He identified 77 being a node, but wanted to try closer to case capacity (300 WM with H1000, 190 gr berger -.01" off). Based of the node, 3% should be another node so as he requested I shot round robin at 100 yards, 79.0, 79.5, 80 grs.

Sent it to him, and said load 79.2 grs, and .01" off, .015" off....025" off.

So now I know, I have .2 gr down and .3 grs up im still in a node and same POI, and .005" in im still in a node. I did a scope calibration and took it to 630 yards!

190 berger, .01" off
79.2 gr H1000
Norma brass
Fed 210 primers

NOT A LOAD RECOMMENDATION

Yes thats 2 holes in the top ;)

630 yards, 8 shots, 6 out of 8 under 3", 5.02" total. 7MPH crosswind, not holding for wind. Looks like a keeper!

Just wanted to share my experience and to thank Dan for his help!

How can I get in touch with Dan?

Dan Newberry

Thanks for all the links guys! I really appreciate it. I PM'd Dan and he got right back to me. We're going to chat a while this evening.

And even better, after getting your load developed, go spend a couple of days shooting with him.

GREAT learning experience.

Dan is a great guy! Got a chance to meet him and do some shooting up in Wytheville. Had a great time and pushed my 308 with 20inch barrel out to 1200yds. He really helped our entire class learn to read the wind better. I will be going back this year.

1st shot, adjusted scope, 3 shots in .0095" group! (Witnessed).than shot a 2.89" group at 639 yards, I don't think I've ever been on a node before after shooting these groups!
