Guy says device is combat loss, that's still same as stolen if it pops back up and you run the numbers. They used to not give a shit, but since that became an avenue for diversion, they put the kebosh to it. Trust me, I've talked to many agents and I don't buy suspect items without a face to face meeting with MPI and CID and a call to FBI and local.
If they all pass off on it, fuck it then, it's a great deal. But god forbid it shows back up and they start tracking it down.
Some of you also might not have any idea how rough we treated that shit, and it won't have a warranty being both sold to military AND a combat loss. So keep that in mind. If you send it back to the factory, they'll run it completely and they won't return a combat loss or original military sale either (without hand receipt papers, which you won't have as a combat loss).
Good luck, great deal but now I know for a fact I'd have to pass.
He and another fellow that's been on here a while PM'd me and that's how I found this out. So it seems he's genuinely unaware of this. I found out about this over the last piece of suspect military gear I bought --it checked out fine, no point of sale, no loss, never in any inventory. That's the surplus gear you need to look for.
They do/did send expensive gear to soldiers for free, at least 13 years ago. Surefire, KAC, AA, G&G, etc., were just a few that sent us free shit. Some guys did ask for lasers and got them. I think Insight or BE Meyers said they stopped sending lasers five years ago though and also now keep all point of original sale by SN.
