Cleaning new stainless steel pins

Yep mix it a all together and rock on, BUT I stopped using SS media for my PR brass, I only use it for blasting ammo(pistol and AR15), my PR brass either gets outside cleaned by hand with a Krazy Klothe or toss in the tumbler with walnut shells, the carbon inside the necks aids in consistent bullet release, ie lower ES/SD

The pins are cut and have sharp edges and burs on their tips, tumble the media for several hours to wear down the sharp ends.

If you go to the STM website Brass Cleaning & Reloading Tips and Instructions it tells you the following.

"Notice. It takes a few times to get the media broke in"

Below is what happens when you do not break the pins in, the sharp ends of the pins will scratch and gouge the hell out of your brass. When all else fails read the directions (RTFM)

I have to say that I have never seen any of the deformities on my brass that you show on this post and others on the same or similar topic. I have never had the stainless media ping/ding up the case mouth or have any other undesirable affect; just squeaky clean. Is it possible that the dimpling you have experienced is caused from brass on brass contact, from having the brass/stainless media ratio to high?

As far as RTFM, it also says "Q. Will the media harm my brass?
A. No, the media will not harm your brass. It does not work harden, or damage your brass in anyway."

I didn't clean the pins all....

Just added the brass, water and other ingredients, and let it rock and roll.

I haven't noticed any damage to brass.
