Thanks guys. No cantilever as I don't swap scopes around and will have no BUIS. No cant as I just don't see needing it with 223. Even at 600 I still have quit a bit of elevation left with no cant. Also a cant will throw the ass end of the scope that much higher. Even with the ones that show a centerline under 1.4" with the cant they have the ass end of the scope is actually higher.
JSF, W54, the bell clearing the rail is another concern as I have ran into that issue on bolts with S&Bs. Everything I have there has at least 20 MOA built in though. I also use Tenebrauex ARDs and caps which exaggerate the issue a little. I should be OK with a centerline above 1.3 here as long as there is 0 cant.
Magnum, Dimar, I'll call Richard and ask. I use his bases already on my Sakos I just hadn't seen what I was looking for on his site. The Alpha doesn't look like it has any offset so I'd end up mounting the front of the base to the forearm which I don't want to do.
edit: btw, the reason I went with JP to begin with thinking/hoping it would work is due to the way it mounts to the rail. The JP design doesn't have to account for both a QD and fixed option so you get a very clean look. That seems to be the exception though as most want QD so that's what seems to be out there.
On a side note since this was my mistake, look to the PX later for a hell of a deal on an unused JP mount. Not even gonna try to return it as I could have picked up the phone and called. lol. Lesson learned again.
